Job summary

The H-J Family of Companies seeks a Quality Engineer to support the product development team and ensure conformance to customer specifications. You will develop testing procedures, analyze defects, and drive improvements across processes.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in quality roles, strong communication and analytical skills, and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Travel occasionally as needed to support quality initiatives and supplier assessments.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of working experience in a Quality role, including working with customer issues preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s production processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to serve as a liaison with developers, project managers, and customer support.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly QA inspectors. Make day-to-day decisions within or for the QA group.
• Establish priorities and ensure maximum usage of assigned resources.
• Be involved in team-driven actions to help improvements.
• Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
• Ensure products meet the organization’s and customers’ quality and product integrity requirements.
• Support product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
• Identify root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures, through use of 8D Methodology.
• Analyze data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects, including SPC and KPI.
• Supervise inspections on raw material, material in process, and finished products.
• Assist in the development of quality standards and protocols for quality assurance testing, which can include PPAP, IMEA, control flows, and capacity studies.
• Support facility ISO 9001 program; recommend improvements to maintain assessment certification.
• Occasional travel
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary: The Quality Engineer role provides quality assurance support to the product development team, resolves bugs, defects, and other potential issues, and ensures products meet high-quality customer specifications.
