Job summary

H-J Family of Companies in Missouri is seeking a Quality Engineer to support our product development and manufacturing teams. You will help ensure products meet customer specifications, develop tests, and implement quality procedures across the value chain.

Responsibilities include supervising QA inspectors, reviewing designs and process docs, identifying root causes with 8D methodology, and analyzing data with SPC/KPIs. Travel required occasionally.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of working experience in a Quality role, including working with customer issues preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to liaise with developers, managers, and customers.

• Review design plans, processes, and quality manuals to understand requirements and function.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions using 8D methodology.

• Support ISO 9001 program and quality standards; participate in PPAP/IMEA where applicable.
• Occasional travel and other duties as assigned.

Summary: The Quality Engineer role provides quality assurance support to the product development team, resolves bugs, defects, and other potential issues, and ensures products meet high-quality customer specifications. The Quality Engineer will develop process and testing procedures and implement systems to ensure products and processes meet customer expectations.

Essential Functions

• Supervise hourly QA inspectors. Make day-to-day decisions within or for the QA group.
• Establish priorities and ensure maximum usage of assigned resources.
• Be involved in team-driven actions to help improvements.
• Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
• Ensure products meet the organization’s and customers’ quality and product integrity requirements.
• Support product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
• Identify root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures, through se of 8D Methodology.
• Analyze data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects, including SPC and KPI.
• Supervise inspections on raw material, material in process, and finished products.
• Assist in the development of quality standards and protocols for quality assurance testing, which can include PPAP, IMEA, control flows, and capacity studies.
• Support facility ISO 9001 program; recommend improvements to maintain assessment certification.
• Occasional travel
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of working experience in a Quality role, including working with customer issues preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s production processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to serve as a liaison with developers, project managers, and customer support.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
