Job summary

Pentair plc in Hanover Park, IL is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead quality activities across product and process improvements. You will report to the site Quality Manager and drive proactive quality initiatives across value streams.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality, 5+ years in quality engineering, Lean manufacturing experience, and proficiency with Excel and Minitab. ASQ certification and ISO9001 experience are highly valued.

  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
  • Lean manufacturing experience required.
  • Proven success with 8D, DMAIC, etc.
  • Excel and Minitab for data manipulation and analysis.
  • ISO9001 experience with auditing.
  • AIAG core requirements (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-resolution, and teamwork.
  • Project management, collaboration, and customer‑focused mindset.
  • ASQ certification and experience in high‑volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage process and product controls for first‑time quality.
  • Resolve daily in‑process quality issues for assigned value streams.
  • Evaluate raw material, in‑process, and finished goods against requirements.
  • Lead investigations for nonconformances and supplier quality concerns.
  • Facilitate continuous‑improvement teams to reduce cost of quality.
  • Maintain quality scorecard metrics and propose improvements.
  • Develop internal QA audit system and close audit findings.
  • Design systems to record and analyze quality trends and plans.
  • Use statistics to identify safety and quality problems and prevent them.
  • Create sampling plans, standards, and process control instructions.
  • Review PPAP requirements for changes and new development.

We have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Hanover Park, IL team. You will report to the site Quality Manager and aid in providing leadership for the Quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product, processes, and the Quality management system.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage effective process and product controls to ensure first‑time product quality.
  • Resolve daily in‑process quality issues for assigned value streams.
  • Evaluate and monitor raw material, in‑process, and finished‑good components against customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigation and resolution for internal nonconformances, customer product‑quality complaints, and supplier quality concerns using disciplined problem‑solving techniques (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Facilitate and manage continuous‑improvement teams to improve safety and drive down cost‑of‑quality metrics (DPPM, scrap, cost of poor quality, etc.).
  • Capture and maintain Quality scorecard metrics and recommend improvements with the goal of transitioning the organization from a reactive to a proactive culture.
  • Develop and lead internal product/process quality audit system, including closing out audit findings and reporting results to upper management.
  • Design systems for recording and analyzing product quality levels and interpret and report trends and improvement plans as part of the Quality Operating System.
  • Utilize statistical data to identify and resolve safety and quality problems, and lead initiatives that focus on problem prevention and variance reduction.
  • Create, modify, and implement sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions.
  • Review and establish PPAP requirements for product/process changes and new product development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
  • Lean manufacturing experience required.
  • Proven success in utilizing formal problem resolution tools (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Experience in utilization of Excel and Minitab (or equivalent) for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Working background in ISO9001, with auditor experience.
  • Experience in utilizing the AIAG core requirements (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC; highly preferred).
  • Self‑directed with outstanding troubleshooting and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Strong project‑management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and team‑facilitation skills.
  • Strong ‘customer first’ mindset.
  • Positive team player who drives accountability and is dedicated to respectful collaboration.
  • Strong work ethics and a commitment to honest and ethical business practices when dealing with internal and external partners.
  • ASQ certification.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment preferred.
Compensation

For this full‑time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71,000 to $131,800 per year. Compensation is based on experience, education, and other factors and may also include annual incentive bonus.
