Job summary

MAU Workforce Solutions is hiring a Quality Engineer for our client in Greenville, SC. You will ensure product and process quality across CNC machining operations by partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Suppliers to improve process capability, reduce defects, and maintain compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

This is a long-term renewable contract opportunity with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in machining environments.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, and MSA.

Responsibilities

  • Own quality assurance activities for machining processes including milling, turning, EDM, grinding, and broaching.
  • Ensure processes meet drawing requirements, GD&T specs, and CTQ characteristics.
  • Validate Cp/Cpk and lead improvements when targets are missed.
  • Develop and maintain control plans, inspection strategies, and standardized work.
  • Define and optimize in-process and final inspection methods.
  • Review and support CMM programs.
  • Utilize gaging equipment (micrometers, bore gages, indicators, profilometers).
  • Support advanced scanning methods (Blue Light, HandyScan) where applicable.
  • Ensure gage capability through MSA and calibration compliance.
  • Partner with metrology teams to improve measurement efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead investigations of machining-related nonconformances and drive CAPA.
  • Support new part introduction, prove-outs, and process qualification activities.
  • Approve first article inspections and production readiness conditions.

MAU is hiring a Quality Engineer for our client in Greenville, SC. As a Quality Engineer, you will ensure product and process quality across CNC machining operations by partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Suppliers to improve process capability, reduce defects, and maintain compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. This is a long-term renewable contract opportunity.

Shift Information
  • Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in machining environments
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience with CNC machining processes (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Okuma)
  • Proficiency in MSA, SPC, PFMEA, and control plan development
  • Familiarity with aerospace or heavy industrial components (HRSA materials such as Inconel)
  • Knowledge of CMM programming or interface (PC-DMIS, Calypso, etc.)
General Requirements
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
  • Experience with precision machining (tolerances ? ±0.001", preferably tighter)
Essential Functions
  • Own quality assurance activities for machining processes, including milling, turning, EDM, grinding, and broaching.
  • Ensure machining processes consistently meet drawing requirements, GD&T specifications, and critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics.
  • Validate process capability (Cp/Cpk) and drive improvements when performance falls below target.
  • Develop and maintain control plans, inspection strategies, and standardized work.
  • Define and optimize in-process and final inspection methods.
  • Review and support CMM programs.
  • Utilize manual gaging equipment, including micrometers, bore gages, indicators, and profilometers.
  • Support advanced scanning methods, including Blue Light and HandyScan, where applicable.
  • Ensure gage capability through MSA (Gage R&R) and calibration compliance.
  • Partner with metrology teams to improve measurement efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead investigations of machining-related nonconformances.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies, including RCA, 8D, and DMAIC, to identify root causes.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with clear ownership and closure.
  • Ensure proper containment and disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Support new part introduction, prove-outs, and process qualification activities.
  • Validate machining processes during setup and commissioning.
  • Approve first article inspections (FAI) and production readiness conditions.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure quality is built into the process.
  • Drive defect reduction, scrap reduction, and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for tooling optimization.
  • Recommend fixture improvements.
  • Support PFMEA development and updates.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce process variation and improve machining repeatability.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain quality documentation, including control plans, inspection plans, and audit records.
  • Support internal and external audits.
