Job summary

Gwynedd Manufacturing Inc. seeks a Quality Engineer to drive quality across CNC machining and assemblies. You will develop QA processes, create work instructions, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on CMM operation and programming to validate dimensional accuracy. You will collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, support audits, CAPA activities, and train team members in GD&T and metrology.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (precision machining and assembly preferred).
  • Hands-on experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of measurement systems, metrology, and GD&T principles.
  • Hands-on experience with castings, forgings, machining tolerances, work orders, and shop routers.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodologies for product and process improvement.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review systems, processes, and workflows to drive continuous improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Inspect and test in-process and finished products to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Operate, program, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to perform dimensional inspections, develop inspection programs, validate product conformity, and support manufacturing and engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to identify process improvements, eliminate waste, and strengthen quality controls.
  • Establish, document, and implement quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, control plans, and audit records.
  • Train and mentor team members on quality measurement techniques, GD&T, metrology tools, CMM operation/programming, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action activities (CAPA).
  • Support customer, regulatory, and internal audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with defense and federal quality requirements as well as internal company standards.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role plays a key part in ensuring that our CNC machining and assembly operations consistently meet the strict quality standards required by our customers. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance processes, creating work instructions, collaborating cross-functionally to improve workflows, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards, and operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to validate product quality and dimensional accuracy.
Key Responsibilities

Physical And Work Environment Requirements
This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may require the following over extended periods of time up to a full 8-hour work shift (excluding lunch and breaks): stand, walk, sit, squat or bend, kneel and rise, lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to — and occasionally exceeding — 50 pounds, view a computer or other digital screen, work on a computer, workstation or comparable system, and make accurate entries in such systems. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are required for detailed assembly and precision work. Work may take place in areas with varying temperatures or no climate control, varying noise levels, and production equipment in motion. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas at all times as required by company policy.
