Job summary

Robert Bosch Group is seeking a Quality Engineer to support internal 8D activities, quality alerts, and PPAP submissions for multiple lines in the Florence area. You will interact with QMM and MFO teams across shifts and coordinate with project leads, sales and design engineers.

The role requires solid problem solving, PFMEA knowledge, and the ability to learn SAP and WindChill while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent.
  • Advanced problem solving (8D) and knowledge of PPAP activities.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, GD&T and statistics.
  • Ability to learn SAP, WindChill and other software packages.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal 8D actions across SCU, Servo and Sensor Unit lines.
  • Assist with PPAP submissions and plant-to-plant interactions.
  • Help with Quality Alerts, Concessions and MRB tasks.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with operations and design teams.
  • Provide daily direction to technicians and escalate as needed.

Job Description

The Quality Engineer position is primarily responsible for supporting Internal 8D’s, Quality Alerts, Containment Actions, Concessions, and Plant to Plant Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for the SCU (Steering Control Unit) lines, Servo lines, and Sensor Unit lines. Additional responsibilities include supporting Product Audits, Process Audits, New Hire Orientation, Material Review Board (MRB), and Plant to Plant interaction topics.

Frequent interactions with Quality Management Methods (QMM) Technicians, Manufacturing Operations (MFO) Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers (MFE), Manufacturing Operations (MFO), Assembly Line Workers, Team Leads, and Managers on all shifts of production will be required. Interactions with Project Leads (PPL), Sales, and Design Engineers in Florence, Plymouth, and Queretaro will also be required. The QMM Engineer will provide daily direction and support to QMM Technicians. The QMM Engineer will functionally and disciplinarily report to the QMM Group Leader for additional tasks and escalation decisions.

Job Duties:

  • Internal 8D’s
  • Support and facilitate internal plant quality 8D’s with cross functional team members for the SCU, Servo, and Sensor Unit lines.
  • Plant to Plant Interaction
  • Provide primary support activities concerning upstream and downstream plant to plant PPAP submissions
  • Support problem solving and containment activities concerning upstream and downstream plant to plant deliveries
  • Concessions
  • Support concession tasks such as Risk Assessments, team reviews, and approvals as needed
  • Quality Alerts
  • Support and issue quality alerts when quality issues emerge
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Advanced problem-solving experience (8D Method), knowledge of production value streams, PFMEA’s, and Control Plans is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Process Capability studies and gauge R & R’s in support of PPAP activities is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of corporate regulations (BBM Process Compass, Central Quality Directives [CDQ], and Bill of Material [BOM]) requirements is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T print reading, claims management, and change coordination for serial production parts is desirable
  • Individual must have ability to make independent decisions that may be of a complex nature.
  • Must have solid computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages. Must be capable of learning other software packages (SAP, WindChill, etc.)
  • Technical math skills required
  • High level of teamwork, detail oriented, self-motivated, and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic and challenging manufacturing environment.
  • Individual must possess the interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with co-workers, colleagues, and members of management
  • The ability to work in an office environment, which could include sitting or standing for many hours. Responsibilities include the need to lift, carry, push, and pull material on a moderately frequent basis.
