Job summary

Rush & Company is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to join a large, global textile organization. The role focuses on quality and process improvement for lamination operations on the shop floor, with direct involvement in root cause analyses and corrective actions.

You will manage quality systems, drive investigations, and collaborate with Production, Quality, and Technical Sales teams to ensure product consistency and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Textile or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 2+ years in quality, manufacturing, or process engineering role.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, 8D).
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, SPC).
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis of internal quality issues and customer complaints.
  • Develop and improve systems for managing internal and external quality issues.
  • Organize and lead structured root cause investigations and corrective actions (8D/5 Whys/Fishbone).
  • Create real-time quality feedback to production and lamination teams.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and technical teams for consistency and improvement.
  • Monitor lamination process performance and drive improvements.
  • Develop and maintain SPC, PFMEA, and other statistical tools for process control.
  • Document and communicate best practices to drive standardization.
  • Support trials and product launches with critical quality insights.

We are working with a well-established (some divisions have been in business for up to 100 years), large (close to $1B in annual sales and 6K employees world-wide) global textile organization specializing in a variety of textile products including wovens, nonwovens, scrim and geo textiles, life protection / protective and outdoor apparel, industrial and technical textiles, coating, films, fiber, chemicals, etc. In addition to being the global leader in technical sailcloth manufacturing, our partner produces a unique line of laminate technical fabrics that is used in outdoor lifestyle brands such as Patagonia, North Face, Black Diamond, and Columbia.

Our partner is seeking a hands‑on Quality Engineer to join their team.

As a key member of a small but dynamic manufacturing site, the Quality Engineer will focus on both quality and process improvement for lamination operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a factory‑floor environment, values direct communication, and wants to make a tangible impact in a collaborative team setting. You will be responsible for managing quality systems, driving root cause analyses, and strengthening internal feedback loops to improve product performance and process stability.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead analysis of internal quality issues and customer complaints
  • Develop and improve systems for managing internal and external quality issues
  • Organize and lead structured root cause investigations and corrective action plans (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
  • Create internal feedback systems to provide real‑time process‑related quality input to production and lamination teams
  • Work closely with inspection and production teams to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns
  • Monitor and optimize lamination process performance
  • Develop and maintain SPC, PFMEA and other statistical tools to ensure process control
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Technical Sales teams to support product consistency and continuous improvement
  • Document and communicate best practices to drive process standardization
  • Support trials and product launches by capturing critical quality insights
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably in Textile or Chemical Engineering)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality, manufacturing, or process engineering role, ideally in lamination or technical textiles
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies such as Fishbone, 5 Whys, 8D, or similar tools
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis tools and statistical techniques (e.g., Excel, Minitab, SPC)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and directly with production operators
