Qualifications

  • Experience reading engineering drawings and specs.

Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description

This Quality Engineer role focuses on leading product quality, regulatory compliance, and Department of Transportation (DOT) approval activities for manufactured products. You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, testing laboratories, and regulatory agencies to ensure products meet all applicable standards and maintain compliance throughout the production lifecycle. The position combines hands‑on quality engineering, regulatory approvals, product testing, and technical documentation in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead product quality initiatives to ensure manufactured products consistently meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Manage DOT, federal, state, and other regulatory approval and certification processes for new and existing products.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, testing laboratories, and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance throughout design, production, and release.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, including control plans, process validation, and inspection processes to support production quality.
  • Conduct and lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities (CAPA) to address nonconformances, field issues, and quality concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, compliance documentation, specifications, and approval submissions for regulatory and certification bodies.
  • Support product qualification, validation, durability, environmental, and compliance testing through internal teams and thirdparty labs.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements to ensure product designs and processes meet all applicable standards.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including incoming inspections, supplier evaluations, and resolution of supplier‑related quality issues.
  • Participate in FMEA activities to identify and mitigate product and process risks during design and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement in product quality, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Use project management skills to plan, track, and deliver quality and compliance initiatives on time and within scope.
  • Communicate quality findings, test results, and compliance status clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, regulatory compliance, product certification, or manufacturing quality.
  • Proven experience managing DOT, federal, state, or other regulatory approval and certification processes.
  • Strong quality engineering background with hands‑on experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with quality systems, including CAPA, root cause analysis, FMEA, control plans, and process validation.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufactured products, production processes, supplier quality, inspections, and quality controls.
  • Experience coordinating product qualification, validation, durability, environmental, or compliance testing with internal teams or thirdparty laboratories.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong project management skills to organize and execute multiple quality and compliance initiatives.
  • Effective technical writing and communication skills for preparing reports, documentation, and regulatory submissions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with DOT, government agencies, testing laboratories, or certification bodies.
  • background with infrastructure, transportation, construction products, or other regulated industries is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and SolidWorks for reviewing and understanding product designs.
  • Experience with ERP systems, with Epicor familiarity preferred.
  • Exposure to durability, environmental, and compliance testing methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and external partners.
Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing‑focused environment that involves close interaction with engineering, production, suppliers, and external testing laboratories. You will work with quality systems, engineering drawings, and technical documentation, and use tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ERP systems (including Epicor) to support daily activities. The position includes coordinating testing and approvals with third‑party labs and regulatory agencies, and supporting production processes on the shop floor as needed. The work setting emphasizes collaboration, structured processes, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards across the full product lifecycle.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.08/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
