Job description

Job Title: Quality Process Engineer

The Quality Process Engineer leads critical quality initiatives across manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure robust processes, prevent defects, and support new product launches. This role focuses on root cause analysis, continuous process improvement, and driving standardized quality systems and tools throughout the organization while providing technical leadership to quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective actions for manufacturing, supplier, and customer quality issues.
• Improve manufacturing processes by applying Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, and robust control plans to enhance consistency and reduce variation.
• Drive defect prevention initiatives that reduce scrap, rework, warranty claims, and customer complaints by strengthening processes and controls.
• Support new product launches and manufacturing process validation activities to ensure stable, capable, and compliant production processes.
• Lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities for new and modified products, processes, tooling, and suppliers, ensuring complete and accurate submissions and on-time approvals.
• Develop, review, and approve PPAP elements, including process flow diagrams, control plans, dimensional results, material and performance test records, capability studies, and Part Submission Warrants (PSWs).
• Plan and execute Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including variable and attribute studies, to verify that measurement systems are accurate, repeatable, reproducible, and suitable for production use.
• Support ISO quality system requirements, internal and external audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain and enhance certification and compliance.
• Train and coach employees on quality tools, standards, and structured problem-solving methodologies to build quality awareness and capability across the organization.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coaching, and work direction to Quality Technicians to ensure effective inspection activities, containment actions, and problem-solving efforts.
• Ensure adherence to established quality standards, procedures, and documentation requirements across production and quality functions.

Essential Skills

• 10–15 years of experience in quality, with a strong track record of running a team and driving quality improvement initiatives.
• Proven experience in quality engineering and process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Hands-on experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including preparation, review, and approval of all required elements.
• Strong skills in process improvement using tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability analysis.
• Practical knowledge and application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for defect reduction and process optimization.Experience planning and conducting Measurement System Analysis (MSA) for both variable and attribute measurement systems.
• Ability to train, coach, and provide technical leadership to quality teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Familiarity with ISO-based quality management systems and support of audits and continuous improvement activities.

• Experience driving structured defect prevention programs that reduce scrap, rework, and warranty exposure.
• Background in supporting new product introductions and process validation activities in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to develop and maintain comprehensive control plans and process documentation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and lead continuous improvement initiatives across multiple teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manitowoc, WI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
