Job summary

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering or related field, 5 years in manufacturing quality, Six Sigma certification, and strong communication skills, with willingness to travel as needed to support plant-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Math or Business.
  • At least 5 years of Quality Engineering in manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with Quality Systems development and auditing.
  • Quality training and problem solving.
  • Ability to lead cross-divisional teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Willing to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality issues and trends.
  • Manage a prioritized quality improvement plan.
  • Coordinate portfolio of quality improvement projects.
  • Lead or mentor quality improvement projects.
  • Provide process mentoring and quality tools training.
  • Develop control plans for each product line.
  • Perform step-by-step measurements, inspections, and acceptance standards.
  • Work with Process Engineering on gauging, lighting, controls.
  • Execute quality system actions: alerts, corrective actions, auditing, procedures.
  • Respond to significant quality issues.
  • Develop quality plans for new product launches.
  • Capability analysis/validation.
  • Process FMEA.
  • Corrective actions for launch quality.

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer is the primary functional role to identify and track quality issues and to organize, plan and manage improvement efforts for Quality in the facility. The plant Director of Operations owns the Quality performance of the plant. The Quality Engineer brings quality improvement skills and methods and full-time focus to the effort.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Full-time focus on customer quality...CRR/OIR
  • Monitoring and communication of quality issues and trends
  • Manages a prioritized quality improvement plan for the plant in alignment with the DO
  • Coordinates the portfolio of quality improvement projects for the plant
Lead or mentor quality improvement projects
  • Coaches teams involved in Quality Improvement…provides process and tool mentoring
  • Quality tools training
Process analysis and control
  • Develops control plans for each product line
  • Step by step measurements, inspections, acceptance standards, controls and reaction standards
  • Works with Process Engineering to execute proper gauging, lighting, control devices…etc.
Quality System Execution
  • Quality Alerts, White Glove, Cause rework coding…etc.
  • Corrective-Action
  • Auditing
  • Plant procedures, work instructions…etc.
  • Respond to and investigate significant quality issues
New product launch quality
  • Develop quality control plan
  • Capability analysis/validation
  • Process FMEA
  • Corrective Action of any pre/post launch quality issues

QUALIFICATION, SKILL and ATTRIBUTE REQUIREMENTS
  • BS Degree (Engineering, Statistics, Math, Business)
  • 5 years' experience as a Quality Engineer in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt (or capable of becoming certified)
  • Quality Systems development/auditing
  • Quality training
  • Problem Solving
  • Expert Quality Systems/Quality Improvement
  • Willing to travel
  • Expert ability to lead and work in cross-divisional teams
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute multiple complex projects with strict timetables
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Expert knowledge in working with manufacturing plants preferably with discrete products
