Job summary

Hunter Douglas, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement, and support new product launches. The role focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency across production lines in a dynamic environment.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop standard work, analyze data, and manage PFMEAs and ECNs to ensure targets are met and capacity aligns with demand. A strong engineering background and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of Process Engineering in manufacturing; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement/Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and implement improvements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders.
  • Strong project management with multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, process validation, quality systems, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% and work in office and manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard work procedures and cycle times.
  • Conduct process analysis, Gemba walks, and root cause investigations.
  • Lead and support cross-functional teams to achieve process targets.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs to identify risks and drive defect prevention.
  • Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and implement changes.
  • Support new product/process launches, including capacity validation.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and KPIs to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

As a Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing processes that support operational excellence and business growth. This position is responsible for optimizing production processes, leading continuous improvement initiatives, supporting new product launches, and ensuring manufacturing standards are consistently achieved. Your work will directly impact key business objectives by improving productivity, reducing waste, enhancing quality, and ensuring production capacity meets customer delivery requirements.

What you’ll do
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity across manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard work procedures, process documentation, and cycle times for production processes.
  • Conduct process analysis, Gemba walks, and root cause investigations to identify opportunities and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and support cross-functional teams in achieving process performance targets and continuous improvement goals.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs to identify process risks and drive defect prevention activities.
  • Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), ensuring timely and effective implementation of process changes.
  • Support new product and process launches, including capacity validation, process readiness, and operational performance requirements.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and KPI metrics to improve throughput, reduce scrap and rework, and optimize resource utilization.
  • All other duties as assigned
Who you are
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and implement effective process improvements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, process validation, quality systems, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% and perform work in both office and manufacturing environments, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting with assistance.
