JOB DESCRIPTION: Quality Engineer
LOCATION: On-Site in Ashburn, VA w/ Hybrid Flexibility
SALARY: $75,000- $80,000 w/ 10% Annual Bonus

Who You Are
Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Quality Engineer will support product quality, reliability, and performance across our power monitoring products. This hands-on engineering role contributes to product testing and troubleshooting, RMA evaluation, test equipment management, quality documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will work closely with Engineering and cross-functional teams to investigate product issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions. This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys electrical testing, technical problem-solving, data analysis, and developing expertise in product quality and power monitoring technologies.
This role offers practical, hands‑on experience across product testing and quality engineering, failure analysis and product qualification, and continuous improvement in a technically collaborative environment. You'll also gain exposure to power monitoring technologies while collaborating with global Quality and Engineering teams.
What You’ll Do
Product Quality & Testing
- Perform functional, electrical, and acceptance testing in accordance with established procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Support product validation and qualification activities.
- Test and evaluate RMA and field-returned devices.
- Accurately record, review, and maintain test results and supporting records.
- Identify test failures and escalation abnormal results for further investigation.
- Support firmware and product configuration verification activities.
- Assist with developing and improving test methods, procedures, fixtures, and test benches.
Failure Analysis & Corrective Action
- Support failure analysis and root‑cause investigations related to product and customer quality issues.
- Collect and analyze test data to identify failure patterns and quality trends.
- Participate in structured root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action activities, including 8D investigations.
- Document investigation findings, conclusions, and corrective actions.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
Test Equipment & Measurement Systems
- Support test equipment monitoring and verification activities.
- Maintain the calibration and verification status of test equipment and electrical measurement tools.
- Ensure equipment is properly identified, maintained, and suitable for its intended use.
- Support the setup, qualification, and improvement of test benches and fixtures.
- Identify equipment issues and coordinate calibration, maintenance, or repair as needed. 1
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work with Senior Quality Engineers, Engineering, Customer Support, Operations, and Warehouse teams to resolve quality issues.
- Collaborate with Janitza's global Quality and Engineering teams on product investigations and improvements.
- Communicate test findings, risks, and quality issues clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Support customer‑ and supplier‑quality activities as needed.
- Participate in cross‑functional continuous‑improvement projects.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.
What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 0-2 years of experience in quality engineering, electrical testing, product validation, or a related engineering field. Relevant internships and academic project experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Familiarity with electrical measurement equipment, such as:
- Digital multimeters
- Oscilloscopes
- Current transformers
- Electrical meters
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, embedded systems, and firmware.
- Basic knowledge of product testing, verification, and validation concepts.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to accurately document test results and technical findings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional and international teams.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies and quality methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical power monitoring or measurement products.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or quality management system tools.
- Exposure to automated test equipment or test automation.
- Familiarity with calibration and test equipment management.
- Experience working with power monitoring products.
- ISTQB certification.
