Premium Guard, Inc, a privately held company, established in 1996. We are a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive aftermarket. We design, manufacture and distribute products for automotive, diesel, power-sports and specialty filter markets. We are hiring a Quality Engineer for our Albion, IL location. The Quality Engineer is primarily concerned with facilitating OE Customer issues and providing quality systems and programs to support continuous improvement efforts. The role evaluates quality resolution efforts, maintains data and records to inform department heads about product characteristics needed to meet customer and corporate requirements, and coordinates quality system control plans across suppliers, in-process activities, and customer levels to ensure consistency throughout the corporate structure.
This position supports standardizing quality reports to customer accounts and ensures procedures meet ISO/TS 16949 and customer-specific standards, along with other elements of the quality system as required by management. It also monitors quality system metrics to identify supplier, internal, and external concerns, and administers quality assessments for supplier and internal audits. The incumbent uses advanced quality planning techniques and statistical methods to meet customer requirements and ensure process capability, preparing final reports and modifications as needed.
The role involves collaboration with Quality Engineering Manager and other departments, frequent contact with customers and sales representatives, handling customer complaints, and coordinating responses for resolution (e.g., 5-Why, 8-D Root Cause). Travel to customer sites may be required. The incumbent will become familiar with customer-specific requirements in manuals and online resources, and coordinate with Quality Control, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure a smooth transition to production of new programs.
The Quality Engineer should have knowledge of product design engineering and be able to interpret design-engineering characteristics and geometric tolerance drawings. The role may involve recommending staffing, quality standards, and cost reductions, reviewing new filter designs to ensure quality characteristics can be met, and maintaining communication to sell quality improvements internally and externally.
