Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director, this role is responsible for concurrent and retrospective data collection, entry, and analysis to support staff peer review activities. The role also involves ongoing communication with emergency department and hospital staff to augment and clarify data collected through chart review.

Essential Functions

  1. Coordinate medical staff Peer Review activities.
  2. Communicate effectively with hospital and medical staff to clarify and facilitate efficiency and accuracy of data collection.
  3. Perform data entry as assigned; assist with compiling physician profile data for reappointment.
  4. Communicate effectively with external agencies to which data is submitted, as needed.
  5. Perform data analysis, including producing tabular or graphic displays, to identify significant trends or issues, and refer them to the appropriate individual or committee.
  6. Handle highly sensitive and confidential information routinely.
  7. Coordinate designated Medical Staff and hospital committees.
  8. Apply critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and work with minimal supervision.
  9. Work effectively in stressful environments and take appropriate actions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree or at least 10 years of healthcare experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing as a registered nurse with a license to practice in the state preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • If licensed or registered, maintain current licensure or registration.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant progressive work experience in clinical healthcare preferred, including at least two (2) years in an emergency department setting.
