Job summary

Q-Lab Corporation in Westlake, Ohio, seeks a Quality Coordinator to own non-conforming events, CAPA, deviations, inspections, calibration, and quality reporting under the Director of Tester Quality. You will partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Warehouse to drive data-driven improvements, reduce systemic quality issues, and ensure timely corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality systems, supplier quality, or related disciplines.
  • Experience managing nonconforming material and corrective action processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the lifecycle of nonconforming material from identification through final disposition, ensuring timely coordination among Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Warehouse
  • Serve as the central coordinator for cross-functional quality activities, ensuring Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Warehouse complete assigned actions and communicate status
  • Prioritize quality investigations and inspection activities based on business risk, customer impact, and production requirements
  • Prepare weekly and monthly quality reports summarizing trends, key performance indicators, open actions, and areas requiring management attention
  • Track, follow up, and close all quality-related actions to ensure timely and effective resolution
  • Coordinate supplier quality issues, including communication of defects, issuance of SCARs, and verification of corrective actions
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, monitor progress, remove barriers, and ensure timely completion of assigned actions
  • Write, coordinate, and manage deviation requests for temporary departures from the design of record, ensuring proper approval and documentation
  • Coordinate scrap and inventory disposition activities with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Engineering to ensure accurate material control
  • Coordinate incoming inspection activities, establish inspection priorities, and provide support during periods of high workload
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve inspection procedures, inspection plans, and quality documentation to improve consistency and effectiveness
  • Develop quality dashboards, analyze trends, identify systemic issues, and recommend corrective actions to management
  • Supervise personnel including assigning daily priorities, balancing workload, provide coaching and mentorship, train inspectors, review inspection accuracy, verify documentation, and conduct performance feedback
  • Identify recurring quality issues, facilitate root cause investigations, and recommend process improvements to reduce defects and improve manufacturing performance
  • Maintain oversight of the company’s tool and equipment calibration program, including calibration schedules, records, equipment status, and coordination of calibration activities
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and ensure the quality and reliability of assembled products
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing practices, including 5S methodologies, to maintain an organized, efficient, and safe workspace
  • Prioritize safety and quality while maintaining high levels of productivity and meeting production deadlines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide assistance in other areas of manufacturing as needed to support operational goals

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking a Quality Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Tester Quality, this role will serve as the central coordinator for day-to-day quality activities, owning our Non-Conforming Event processes, corrective actions, deviations, inspections, calibration, and quality reporting. This person will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Warehouse to improve overall product quality. The position will use data-driven problem solving to identify and reduce systemic quality problems.


Responsibilities:

Required Skills:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality systems, supplier quality, or related disciplines
  • Experience managing nonconforming material and corrective action processes
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing drawings, specifications, and inspection methods
  • Experience using measuring and inspection equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand, walk, and inspect products throughout the facility

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience with supplier quality management and corrective action systems
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment involving machining, fabrication, electronics, and assembly operations
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
