Job summary

James Hardie Building Products Inc. is seeking a Quality Coordinator to lead our plant quality system and ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements.

This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Corporate Quality to drive process capability, reduce variation, and strengthen a culture of continuous improvement. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of quality experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with SPC, root cause analysis, audits, and quality systems.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or ASQ certifications preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor while following all PPE requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and spend significant time standing and walking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily quality assurance and quality control activities, including but not limited to incoming materials, in-process production, finished products, shipping, and customer / supplier resolutions.
  • Coach and develop plant personnel in conjunction with the Plant Trainer to ensure quality is owned by all employees.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration systems, testing methods, and quality records.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, A3, and statistical analysis.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify long-term effectiveness.
  • Partner with Operations to improve first-pass yield, reduce defects, scrap, rework, customer complaints, and process variation.
  • Support document control, standard work, audits, and process discipline using an ISO 9001 mindset.
  • Monitor SPC, process capability, trends, and quality KPIs while communicating performance to leadership.
  • Perform WIP, line, and finished goods audits.
  • Support new product introductions, raw material qualifications, and process validation activities.
  • Champion customer-focused quality, containment, quarantine, and nonconforming material control.
  • Stay current on emerging quality technologies, metrology, digital quality systems, AI-enabled inspection, vision systems, and best practices, identifying opportunities to improve plant performance.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives utilizing HMOS, Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven decision making.
  • Support internal training on quality standards, specifications, testing methods, and problem-solving.
  • Assisting with the qualification of new raw materials and raw material suppliers through in-plant testing, as necessary.
  • Maintains stringent Quality records.
  • Lead or participate in additional assignments supporting plant objectives.

The Quality Coordinator provides day-to-day leadership of the plant quality system by ensuring products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. The position promotes disciplined quality management practices aligned with ISO 9001 principles such as process control, risk-based thinking, document control, corrective action, and continual improvement, while supporting the plant's business objectives without maintaining formal certification.

What You'll Do:

What You'll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $79,300 to $99,100. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
