Job summary

Community Medical Center is seeking a Quality Coordinator to develop, implement, and monitor initiatives that improve patient safety and quality of care. You will collaborate with clinical teams, monitor safety protocols, analyze data and incident reports, and drive strategies to prevent harm and improve outcomes.

This role may also back up Data Analysis activities, requiring strong teamwork and commitment to evidence-based practice within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing, healthcare admin, or allied health sciences required.
  • Minimum 2 years in healthcare quality improvement or patient safety.
  • CPHQ/CPPS or similar certification preferred, or within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement patient safety programs and protocols.
  • Collect, analyze patient safety data to identify trends.
  • Provide education and training on patient safety practices.
  • Lead performance improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA cycles.
  • Prepare reports on patient safety metrics for hospital leadership.

  • Maintain documentation of patient safety activities.

Job Summary

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring initiatives aimed at improving patient safety and quality of care. This role involves collaboration with clinical teams, monitoring safety protocols, analyzing data and incident reports, implementing strategies to prevent harm and improve patient outcomes while applying evidence-based practices. This position may also be a backup for our Data Analysis as needed.

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Patient Safety Initiatives:Develop and implement patient safety programs and protocols to reduce adverse events and improve overall patient care.
  • Data Analysis:Collect, analyze, and interpret patient safety data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and measure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Education and Training:Provide education and training to hospital staff on patient safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements related to patient safety.
  • Performance Improvement:Lead performance improvement projects using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycles.
  • Reporting:Prepare and present reports on patient safety metrics and performance improvement activities to hospital leadership.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with clinical teams, department heads, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Incident Investigation:Conduct root cause analyses and investigations of patient safety incidents and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Best Practices:Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in patient safety and quality improvement.
  • Interdisciplinary Committees: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to represent quality and develop solutions that enhance patient care and clinical quality.
  • Problem-Solving:Identify and address barriers to patient safety, using problem-solving techniques and tools.
  • Documentation:Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all patient safety activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Allied Health Sciences required
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety or a related field. Working knowledge in an acute care hospital strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or similar certification preferred, or within one year of hire.
