Qualifications

Job description

Job title: Quality Coordinator

Status: Part-Time/PRN Non-Exempt

Hours: 30 hours or less per week

Schedule: 10:00 AM to 4:00PM

Position Summary

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting the organization’s quality and performance improvement initiatives. This role oversees the collection, analysis, and reporting of clinical and operational data to monitor processes, outcomes, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Quality Coordinator identifies opportunities for improvement, develops corrective action plans, and collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to enhance patient care, safety, and organizational performance. This position also assists in risk management activities, supports staff education and training, and ensures adherence to federal, state, and organizational policies and accreditation requirements.

Essential Functions
Quality and Performance Improvement
  • Coordinate and oversee departmental quality and performance improvement activities, including process improvements and patient care outcomes.
  • Lead the collection, review, and analysis of chart audits and other data reflecting clinical processes and outcomes.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate staff participation in quality improvement initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Manage the collection, organization, and analysis of statistical and performance data.
  • Prepare reports on quality metrics, trends, and outcomes for leadership review and decision-making.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to measure progress toward departmental goals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records of all quality-related activities.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure departmental adherence to federal, state, and organizational regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and internal policies.
  • Monitor compliance trends and report to Director of Risk and Quality Assurance.
Education and Staff Support
  • Provide guidance and training to staff regarding documentation standards, quality improvement processes, and performance expectations.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate process-oriented and didactic group sessions for clinical and support staff.
  • Provide guidance to staff on quality, risk management, and process improvement.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement and sustain quality improvement initiatives.
  • Share findings and recommendations with teams and leadership.
  • Participate in committees, task forces, and projects related to quality, patient safety, and risk management.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and operations of the department and organization.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Nursing or other clinical education helpful.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience, preferably in psychiatric care. Experience in healthcare quality/performance improvement, DNV accreditation, and LDH regulatory compliance preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current nursing license (RN or LPN) helpful but not required.

HIPAA: Access to all Protected Health Information (PHI) necessary to perform job functions. Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPAA regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement methods and regulatory requirements (DNV, LDH, CMS).
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and operational data.
  • Skill in preparing reports and presenting findings to leadership and staff.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric or clinical care, patient safety, and risk management.
  • Ability to guide and train staff on quality improvement and documentation standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skill in facilitating group sessions and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare data tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
