Job summary

Whirlwind Steel is seeking a Weld Inspector to ensure the quality and integrity of welds in the frames department. You will perform 100% visual inspections, report defects to the Quality Team Lead, and track issues daily.

Collaboration with multiple departments and adherence to the Quality Control Program are essential. The role requires the ability to read blueprints, operate inspection tools, and maintain equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as weld inspector preferred, but not required.
• Understanding of UTSW with classroom experience.
• Ability to multi-task in a manufacturing environment to meet production demands.
• Experience with evaluation related to quality and code issues.
• Proficient in inspection tools and measuring equipment such as tape measures, squares, and micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints.
• Team-oriented with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 100% visual inspection of welds in the frames department.
• Report quality deficiencies to the Quality Team Lead.
• Track quality deficiencies per weld.
• Update QC Manager on welding issues and daily information.
• Ensure adherence to the Quality Control Program.
• Receive instructions from the QC Manager and perform inspections/tests.
• Collaborate with departments on quality concerns.
• Monitor shop activities for code and drawing conformance.
• Manage and conduct audits in the processing department.
• Support product complaint investigations and assist supervisors.
• Perform inspections on projects under QC Manager supervision.
• Maintain equipment operation and calibration.

Job Summary

The Weld Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welds in the frames department through meticulous visual inspections and reporting. This role involves collaboration with various departments to address quality concerns, manage audits, and maintain equipment, all while adhering to the Quality Control Program.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct 100% visual inspection of welds in the frames department.
• Report quality deficiencies in final parts directly to the Quality Team Lead.
• Track quality deficiencies per weld.
• Report mistakes or welding issues directly to the QC Manager and track daily information.
• Ensure supervisors and employees understand and adhere to the Quality Control Program.
• Receive instructions from the QC Manager regarding project-specific inspections and tests and perform those tasks.
• Collaborate with departments regarding quality concerns.
• Monitor shop activities to ensure conformance with applicable building codes, standards, policies, procedures, and drawing specifications.
• Manage and conduct audits in the processing department.
• Review and assist in product complaint investigations, supporting supervisors with these investigations.
• Perform inspections on projects requiring expertise and knowledge under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Manager
• Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
