Job summary

Whirlwind Steel Buildings and Components is seeking a Weld Inspector to ensure the integrity of welds in the frames department through rigorous visual inspections and precise reporting. The role collaborates with multiple departments to resolve quality concerns while maintaining the Quality Control Program.

The ideal candidate will perform 100% weld inspections, track deficiencies, and assist with project audits and investigations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a weld inspector preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of UTSW with classroom experience.
  • Ability to multi-task in a manufacturing environment to meet production demands.
  • Experience with evaluation related to quality and code issues.
  • Proficient in the use of inspection tools and measuring equipment such as tape measures, squares, and micrometers.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct 100% visual inspection of welds in the frames department.
  • Report quality deficiencies in final parts to the Quality Team Lead.
  • Track quality deficiencies per weld.
  • Report mistakes or welding issues to the QC Manager and track daily information.
  • Ensure supervisors and employees understand and adhere to the Quality Control Program.
  • Receive instructions from the QC Manager regarding project-specific inspections and tests.
  • Collaborate with departments regarding quality concerns.
  • Monitor shop activities to ensure conformance with building codes, standards, policies, procedures, and drawings.
  • Manage and conduct audits in the processing department.
  • Review and assist in product complaint investigations, supporting supervisors.
  • Perform inspections on projects under the supervision of the Quality Control Manager.
  • Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
