Job summary

Gore's Quality Testing Lab is seeking a QC Lab Associate for the 11:00 PM–7:30 AM shift at the Elkton, Maryland facility. You will perform routine QC tests using a wide range of instrumentation, collect data, and communicate results. Qualifications

  • Associate degree in science or engineering, or 2+ years of QC testing experience.
  • Basic computer skills with MS Office applications and ability to learn more advanced systems.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and teamwork ability.
  • Capable of autonomous work and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% and learn new lab tests and instrumentation.

Job description

We are looking for a Quality Control (QC) Testing associate who is experience, energetic, flexible, organized, and high performing to join our Gore Fabrics Quality Testing Lab team on 3rd shift. This role focuses on performing routine testing for product release and process monitoring in a high-volume QC lab while also supporting our engineering teams. As a QC Lab Associate, you will play a key role in upholding high quality standards essential to our operations. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional development in a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive work environement. Standard hours are 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Sunday to Friday.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $25 - $33 per hour
  • This role is eligible for an additional $2/hr shift differential pay for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and perform routine testing of QC samples and non-production (R&D support) samples using a wide variety of instrumentation such as tensile, thermal analysis, MVTR, water entry pressure, porometry, airflow, microscopy, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry.
  • Perform data collection and data entry.
  • Communicate results, issues, and trends.
  • Operate and maintain QC Lab instrumentation.
  • Provide testing support for internal customers with characterization and/or validation projects (including new test equipment purchases).
  • Adhere to safety and environmental practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in science or engineering, OR a minimum of 2 years of experience performing quality control testing.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, Teams) with the ability to learn more advanced systems.
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.li> Ability to recommend changes to existing test methods and procedures through a standardized process.
  • Success working autonomously as well as in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to learn a variety of new tests and lab instrumentation.
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a science or engineering field.
  • Hands-on experience working with instrumentation/techniques, such as: tensile, thermal analysis, MVTR, water entry pressure, porometry, airflow, microscopy, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry.
  • Previous experience working within quality system, as well as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and/or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information. Candidates must be "U.S. persons" as that term is defined in 8 USC §1324b(a)(3).
