Job summary

SCN BestCo, a leader in vitamins, minerals & supplements, is hiring a Quality Control Technician I in Santa Cruz, CA. The role inspects product and packaging, ensuring GMP compliance and accurate documentation, collaborating with production teams to uphold high quality.

Strong attention to detail and basic software skills are required. Starting base pay is approximately $23.30 per hour with bi-weekly pay cycles.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience or commensurate education and work.
  • Knowledge of GMP.
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook proficiency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail, documentation, analytical, organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verify product, packaging materials, and labels meet specifications.
  • Ensure sanitation and line clearances between product runs.
  • Verify weights and date code printing meet specifications.
  • Enforce GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Check product for defect levels and document results.
  • Collect and process finished product samples.
  • Clear production lines after maintenance work.
  • Track and report label/bag usage and discrepancies.
  • Use AMAPS and SharePoint to hold or release product via QR scans.
  • Perform scale/weight checks and other SOP/WI measurements.
  • Document all work in accordance with regulations and procedures.

The Quality Control Technician I scans, weighs, measures index of refraction, analyzes texture of product, and inputs data. This position requires inspection skills with attention to detail while performing product and/or packaging inspections. The Quality Control Technician I collaborates with a team of professionals, production staff, and leaders to ensure the highest quality levels of all company products.

Estimated starting annual base salary is $23.30/ hour less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. Please note that the actual compensation offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined by the Company, which may include, but is not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, education, skillset, and market conditions. The target base compensation for this role is in the low to middle of the range, with the top of the range reserved for only exceptional circumstances. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, variable annual incentive, paid based on Company performance factors. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Verify product, packaging materials, and labels meet all documented specifications.
  • Verify adequate sanitation and line clearances are obtained between product runs.
  • Verify weights and date code printing are within specifications.
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), company, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Check product for defect levels and document results.
  • Collect and process finished product samples.
  • Check and clear production lines after maintenance work is performed.
  • Track and report label & bag usage, cases produced and investigate discrepancies.
  • Use internal systems (AMAPS and SharePoint) to hold or release product, including scanning products using QR codes.
  • Perform scale and weight suitability checks, along with other product measurements, as outlined in approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (WIs).
  • Document all work in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience or commensurate combination of education and work experience.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Basic Microsoft proficiency including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in written form.
  • Attention to detail, documentation, analytical, organizational, and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or professional certification in a relevant field.
  • Prior Quality Control, GMP compliance, or process improvement experience.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
