Knik Construction Co., Inc. is a leading civil and heavy construction company in Alaska, providing services to DOT agencies, FAA-regulated airports, boroughs, and private contractors.

The Quality Control Technician will support projects across remote locations in Alaska, performing CQC duties and coordinating with QC Manager and site superintendents. This seasonal role requires travel and on-site living at remote job sites, with Davis-Bacon wages where applicable.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • No experience required; 1+ year of construction-related experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain WAQTC and ACI certifications.
  • Nuclear density gauge safety and HAZMAT certifications.
  • MSHA and OSHA training certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties in accordance with approved Quality Control Plans.
  • Conduct QC sampling, testing, observation, documentation, and reporting. Perform aggregate testing including sieve analysis, fracture count, and flat & elongated testing.
  • Perform hot mix asphalt (HMA) sampling and testing including asphalt content, gradation, density, and coring.
  • Interpret QC and QA test results for compliance with project specifications.
  • Communicate QC results verbally, in writing, and digitally.
  • Prepare and submit QC reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Stonemont software.
  • Safely operate portable nuclear density gauges.
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and assigned vehicle.
  • Obtain required training and certifications as assigned.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, and the public.
  • Lift, carry, and handle materials, tools, and samples.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Knik Construction is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Technician to support construction projects at multiple remote locations throughout Alaska. This role performs Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties under the direction of a QC Manager or Lead QC Technician and works closely with project superintendents. This is a seasonal position that requires travel and on ‑ site living at remote job locations. Davis ‑ Bacon wages apply where applicable.
