Job summary

Inland Asphalt Co North is seeking a Quality Control Technician to test samples of asphalt and aggregate, ensuring only the best materials are used as we build communities.

No prior experience required—training is provided. Wage starts at $25-$31/hr DOE. Benefits include generous PTO, 401(k) with 5% company match, holidays, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, disability coverage, and opportunities for internal mobility.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver's license.
• Authorized to work in the US or ability to obtain without company assistance.
• Ability to obtain WAQTC certifications.
• Must pass physical exam and pre-employment drug testing.
• Demonstrates good safety and attendance.
• Good math skills.
• Effective communication with all departments and customers.
• Ability to work independently and overtime/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Collect samples from asphalt or aggregate plants.
• Perform field tests for density and other properties.
• Record aggregate gradations.
• Process samples with testing equipment.
• Communicate any material flaws to supervisors.
• Maintain safe work practices and address hazards.
• Record data and enter into computer systems.
• Travel to various sites to support production.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Collect samples from asphalt, or aggregate plants.
• Performs field tests for density or other properties.
• Performs and records aggregate gradations.
• Process samples using a variety of testing equipment and procedures.
• Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
• Record data and enter information into computer systems.
• Communicates with plant staff.
• Travel to and from various sites.
• Performs general clean-up and maintenance duties as assigned.
• Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production
• Regular and timely attendance
• Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date
• Ability to obtain all applicable WAQTC certifications.
• Must pass physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing.
• Demonstrates good performance, safety and attendance.
• Demonstrates proficiency in basic mathematics.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers on the phone and in person.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
• Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Preferred Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Previous experience in concrete and asphalt production or closely related field highly preferred.
