Job summary

Idaho Materials & Construction, a CRH Company, is hiring for a Quality Control Technician to support concrete quality on active projects.

You will perform routine tests on raw materials, ready-mix concrete, and finished products, read and interpret shop drawings, and coordinate with engineering to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma preferred.
  • 1–2 years QC experience preferred.
  • ACI Field Tech I QC certification.
  • PCI Level II or III preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop/engineering drawings.
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with database software.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production activities.
  • Perform daily testing of concrete specimens.
  • Conduct pre-pour and post-pour inspections of precast/concrete products.
  • Ensure QC program is correctly implemented and followed.
  • Collaborate with engineering to verify drawings and products align.

Position Overview

The Quality Control Technician role is vital to the successful delivery of quality concrete to ongoing construction projects. The ideal candidate in this role will conduct routine tests to determine the quality of raw materials, ready mix concrete, and finished products helping to ensure compliance with quality standards

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Monitor production activities
  • Perform dailytesting of concrete specimens
  • Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections of precast/prestress concrete products
  • Take proactive steps to reduce/eliminate detailing operations
  • Ensure correct implementation of our QC program
  • Work with the engineering department to ensure drawings and products are consistent
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • One to two years prior QC experience preferred.
Work Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instruction.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
  • May be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical agilities testing.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Previous experience in the precast industry, related industry, or equivalent
  • ACI Field Tech I Quality control certification
  • PCI level II or III, preferred
  • Knowledge of how to read and interpret shop/engineering drawings
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. periodically throughout the day
