Job summary

Brief Description

Works in the Quality Control Department. Performs mechanical inspection of precision-machined components and assemblies. Utilizes basic computer skills and demonstrates ability in geometry and interpretation of ANSI Y14.5M. Follows procedures specific to products and specific to Quality Systems such as ISO. Reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.

What Success Looks Like
  • Works under direct supervision.
  • Performs visual inspections using workmanship standards.
  • Performs inspection of mechanical components.
  • Fills out applicable QC documents per QC procedures.
  • Uses computer system daily.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Inspection of sub-assemblies and finished assemblies will require the innate ability to learn new Inspection Techniques.
  • Reviews supplier inspection data and collects data as required.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Interfaces with production personnel daily.
  • Sets up and uses close tolerance precision gaging (bore gaging, sine plates, height gages)
  • Perform First Article, Work in Process, Final, Visual and FAI inspections.
  • Calibrates and maintains inspection equipment as required.
  • Performs inspection at supplier sites as required.
  • Interfaces with design and manufacturing engineers and planners to resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

What You Need To Be Successful
  • High school diploma/GED preferred with 1-3 years of relevant experience or 3 years’ experience in technical position, or equivalent education in a manufacturing in lieu of education.
  • Must have experience with calipers, height gauge, micrometers, go/no go gauge, etc.
