Job summary

US Fusion is seeking a Quality Control Technician in Hammond, LA to lead QC activities on heavy industrial construction projects. You will test and inspect metal products, coatings and foundations, interpreting relevant standards and preparing data-driven reports.

Ideal candidates will have API 653, 5+ years of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license. A background check is required for access to client facilities.

Qualifications

• 5 years of heavy industrial construction experience.
• API 653 certification preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and insurability.
• Background check for client facilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate QC activities on construction or maintenance projects.
• Test and inspect metal products, coatings and foundations; evaluate data to ensure quality and reliability.
• Generate and check PQR, WPQ & WPS; interpret AWS/NACE/ACI standards as required.
• Record data using statistical QC methods and prepare reports.

Position Description

General Description:

1. Directs and coordinates activities of workers on a construction or maintenance project, applying knowledge of machines, tools, equipment, specifications, plant layout, etc.

2. Tests and inspects metal products, coatings and civil foundations at various stages of the production process and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

Essential Functions:

1. Must have understanding of and ability to utilize

2. ASME codes, PALA Interstate quality control manual, company safety procedures and customer specifications.

3. Proficient in generating and checking PQR, WPQ & WPS.

4. Understanding of AWS codes.

5. Understanding of NACE standard.

6. Understanding of Concrete Field Testing, ACI.

7. Represents the Company at client meeting concerning Quality.

8. Reads and interprets schematic drawings or specifications and confers with appropriate staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

9. Selects various metal products for testing at specified stages in production, and tests products for various qualities such as dimensions, tolerances, mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics.

10. Records test data applying statistical quality control procedures.

11. Evaluates data and prepares written reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. (Including but not limited to; Turnover Letters and Packages, Hydro Test Packages and Non-Destructive Testing.

12. Recommends modifications to achieve optimum quality within equipment capacity.

13. Utilizes computer to input data as necessary.

• CWI Preferred
