Job summary

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking a Quality Assurance / Quality Control Specialist to direct and coordinate activities on heavy industrial projects in Hammond, LA. You will test metal products, interpret codes, and ensure quality across multiple stages of production.

Must have API 653, strong QC knowledge, and the ability to generate PQR/WPQ/WPS, with a driver’s license and willingness to undergo background checks for client facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience with API 653 and heavy industrial construction QC.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability.
• Background check may be required for client facilities.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate activities on construction or maintenance projects.
• Test and inspect metal products and foundations for quality and reliability.
• Generate and check PQR, WPQ and WPS documents.
• Interpret AWS/NACE/ACI standards to ensure compliance.
• Record data using statistical quality control procedures.
• Prepare reports and identify deviations from standards.
• Represent the company in client meetings regarding quality.

General Description

• Directs and coordinates activities of workers on a construction or maintenance project, applying knowledge of machines, tools, equipment, specifications, plant layout, etc.
• Tests and inspects metal products, coatings and civil foundations at various stages of the production process and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

Essential Functions

• Must have understanding of and ability to utilize
• ASME codes, PALA Interstate quality control manual, company safety procedures and customer specifications.
• Proficient in generating and checking PQR, WPQ & WPS.
• Understanding of AWS codes.
• Understanding of NACE standard.
• Understanding of Concrete Field Testing, ACI.
• Represents the Company at client meeting concerning Quality.
• Reads and interprets schematic drawings or specifications and confers with appropriate staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
• Selects various metal products for testing at specified stages in production, and tests products for various qualities such as dimensions, tolerances, mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics.
• Records test data applying statistical quality control procedures.
• Evaluates data and prepares written reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. (Including but not limited to; Turnover Letters and Packages, Hydro Test Packages and Non-Destructive Testing.
• Recommends modifications to achieve optimum quality within equipment capacity.
• Utilizes computer to input data as necessary.

Position Requirements

• API 653
• CWI Preferred
• 5 years of heavy industrial construction experience.
• Valid Driver’s License and be insurable.
• Background check to enter certain client facilities
