Job summary

CKS Packaging, Inc. in Brownsville, TN is seeking a QC Technician to monitor bottle quality and perform extensive quality checks on all production lines. You will operate calipers, scales, Magna Mike, and other testing equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.

Qualifications

  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply work instructions and job aids.
  • Able to communicate across departments and with management at all levels.
  • Demonstrate ability to use testing equipment, including handheld calipers when AVID system is down.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor bottle quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform hourly leak detector and vision system checks with designated test bottles.
  • Conduct tests for all lines as per control plan: measurements, wall thickness, weight, drop test, visual inspections, and more.
  • Use equipment: calipers, scales, Magna Mike, height gauge, top load tester, leak detector.
  • Perform line inspections at specified frequencies; notify operator and supervisor of defects.
  • Place nonconforming product on hold and tag pallets for isolation.
  • Collaborate with operators and supervisors to correct defects and issues.
  • Issue new specification sheets at product changeovers and maintain quality records.
  • Communicate shift-change information including holds, issues, and machine status.

We are currently seeking candidates with Quality Control experience in the plastics industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Continually monitor bottle quality to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Perform hourly leak detector and vision system checks using the designated test bottles
  • Perform the following tests for all lines as per the required frequency listed in the control plan: finish measurements (i.e. T, E, ID, S, etc.), wall thickness, top load, wall thickness, bottle height and panel widths, weight, drop impact test, visual and bottle integrity inspections, volume and overflow, leak test
  • Proficient at using the following equipment: calipers, scales, Magna Mike, height gauge, top load tester, leak detector
  • Perform line inspections at the required frequencies. Notify the Machine Operator and Production Supervisor of any defect product found
  • Responsible for placing nonconforming product on hold, tagging each pallet, and ensuring the product is isolated and moved to the designated hold area
  • Work with machine operators, supervisors, etc. to correct defective conditions
  • Issue new specification sheets for production personnel at product changeovers
  • Complete quality records neatly and legibly
  • Maintain quality records
  • Communicate all relevant information at shift changeover (product placed on hold, ongoing quality issues, machine status, etc.)

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; experience can take the place of a high school diploma
  • Demonstrate good attendance- report to work as scheduled and on time
  • Possess basic math and writing skills
  • Can read, understand, and apply work instructions and job aids
  • Can effectively communicate cross-departmentally and with the management team at all levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize the required testing equipment, including handheld calipers when the AVID system is down
