About Us

Cleaveland/Price specializes in the design and manufacture of high voltage disconnect switches and switch automation products. The products that we offer are unique in design, and some include patented features. Products have been developed and tested in accordance with IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA standards for high voltage equipment. They are primarily used by investor-owned and public electric utilities and large industrial operations in substation, distribution, transmission, and generation applications.

All company operations take place in a modern 218,300 sq. ft. multi-site facility situated on 20 acres east of Trafford, PA. The facility houses virtually all resources for product realization, including engineering, supply chain, parts fabrication, electro-mechanical assembly, and testing. Fabrication capabilities include laser and plasma cutting, CNC machining, CNC punching, and automated bending and forming. The company also utilizes specialized processes, such as MIG and TIG welding, friction welding, silver and tin electroplating, and silver brazing.

Your Goal

The Quality Control Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership and oversight for the Quality Control inspection team across fabrication and assembly operations. This role is responsible for coordinating inspection priorities, supporting inspector development, promoting consistent inspection practices, and ensuring inspection activities align with Cleaveland/Price quality standards, engineering requirements, customer expectations, and applicable quality procedures.

The supervisor works closely with Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Production to address quality concerns, maintain effective product flow, strengthen inspection processes, and support continuous improvement. This position combines people leadership, inspection knowledge, sound judgment, and clear communication to help the inspection team consistently protect product quality and customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to Quality Control Inspectors across fabrication and assembly inspection areas.
• Coordinate inspection assignments and priorities based on production needs, product risk, available resources, and customer requirements.
• Establish clear expectations for inspection quality, documentation, communication, attendance, safety, and professional conduct.
• Support onboarding and training of new inspectors and reinforce consistent qualification and training practices within the team.
• Oversee first-piece, in-process, and final inspection activities for fabricated parts and assembled products.
• Ensure inspection work is completed accurately, consistently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, Manufacturing Information sheets, specifications, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
• Review inspection records and quality documentation for accuracy, completeness traceability, and timely completion.
• Support inspectors with complex inspection questions, acceptance criteria, escalation decisions, and disposition-related concerns within defined authority.
• Promote proper use and care of measuring and inspection equipment and support compliance with calibration requirements.
• Ensure nonconformances, deviations, and inspection findings are clearly identified, documented, communicated, and escalated in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Production to support containment, evaluation, disposition, and resolution of identified quality concerns.
• Provide inspection data, observations, and technical input to support root cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification activities.
• Help ensure that corrective actions and process changes are understood and consistently implemented by the inspection team.
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and improvement of Quality Control procedures, work instructions, forms, inspection criteria, and training documentation.
• Support Design Change Request activities by helping coordinate disposition, communication, execution, and verification of approved changes.
• Support compliance with the Cleaveland/Price Quality Management System, applicable ISO requirements, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures.
• Participate in internal and external audits and ensure inspection-related actions are addressed in a timely and sustainable manner.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for inspection priorities, inspection concerns, and Quality Control team coordination.
• Provide constructive feedback to Engineering and Operations regarding product performance, manufacturability, recurring defects, and inspection challenges.
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen inspection consistency, reduce defects, improve documentation, and increase efficiency.
• Use inspection results and available quality data to support practical, data-informed decisions and departmental priorities.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by department leadership.

Qualifications:

Your Background

• 5+ years of relevant quality control, inspection, manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical assembly, or electro-mechanical assembly experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience leading, supervising, coaching, or coordinating the work of others in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fabrication and assembly inspection practices, product acceptance criteria, inspection documentation, and nonconformance processes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, Manufacturing Information sheets, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other applicable tools.
• Working knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action, change control, process documentation, audit support, and continuous improvement methods.
• Ability to organize and prioritize inspection activity, manage competing demands, and maintain product flow without compromising quality requirements.
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, collaboration, conflict-resolution, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other job-related software used for inspection records, reporting, communication, and quality management.
• Ability to analyze inspection information, identify trends, make sound decisions within defined authority, and communicate risks to leadership.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, accountability, employee development, and customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements

• Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25lbs. of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects that are 10lbs.
• Requires concentration, accuracy, and focused mental effort while multi-tasking in a team environment.
• Ability to wear standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
