Job summary

CoorsTek in Benton, Arkansas seeks a Quality Control Specialist I to perform visual and measurement inspections on raw materials, in-process goods, and finished components. Under supervision, you will follow procedures, read technical drawings, and use micrometers, calipers, and CMMs to ensure products meet specifications.

You’ll record data, generate simple reports, and assist in training others in inspection methods and GD&T.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of applicable product inspection experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and intermediate math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Check, test, and inspect raw materials, goods in process, and finished products.
  • Read and interpret complex technical drawings and tolerances; perform measurements with micrometers, calipers, and CMMs.
  • Record inspection results and prepare simple technical reports.
  • Train other employees on inspection tools/equipment and GD&T guidelines.

Conduct routine analyses and tests of various components. Work under direct supervisionFollow established procedures and guidelines to check, test, and inspect raw materials, goods in process, and finished goods. Compare the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment, and products to technical specifications to identify defects. Conduct simple tests; record results and prepare simple technical reports . · Under supervision, performs visual and measurement inspection tests including calculating distances, angles, radius tapers, thread and gear data using complex measuring equipment (i.e. Zeiss or Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machines, Smartscope or RAM)Utilizes precision measuring equipment (i.e. micrometers, calipers, comparators, master gauge blocks, indicators, surface gauges, surface plates, sine bars, etc.) to accept or reject parts so that product sent to customers meets expectations and quality standardsApproves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, confirming re-work, communicating required adjustments to appropriate personnel and ensuring quality product is released to customerReads and deciphers complex technical drawings and incorporates tight tolerances into part inspection processInputs and analyzes statistical data utilizing Infinity or other SPC software, documents data obtained during all quality inspection processes and examines statistical data to determine and maintain quality and product reliabilityIf applicable, Operates inspection equipment; troubleshoots and resolves issues affecting quality of product and reports issues to leadership as neededActs as “go-to” person for quality control inspection procedures, willingly accepts responsibility for training other employees as required and ensures inspection methods are consistent and performed in adherence to quality standards and processesConducts training classes relating to inspection tools/equipment, processes, GD&T and technical drawingsPerforms analytical test using instrumentation/equipment and perform measurement calculations as neededDirects other department inspectors at request of team lead or supervisor in leader’s absencePerforms internal audits in accordance with Company and customer quality control standardsAssists and/or performs in any and all areas as assignedWorks any and all shifts/days as requiredUnder minimal supervision, performs visual and measurement inspection tests including calculating distances, angles, radius tapers, thread and gear data using complex measuring equipment ( i.e. Zeiss or Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machines, Smartscope or RAM)EducationHigh School Diploma/GEDExperience1-3 years of applicable product inspection experience preferredFunctional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExhibits strong interpersonal and organizational skills with great attention to detailPossesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenDemonstrates proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and possesses intermediate math skillsExhibits strong problem solving, judgement and decision-making skillsWorks effectively with a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgroundsRequired to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)Has attained qualified status on the use of multiple precision inspection equipment tools in assigned area under limited supervisor, such as micrometers, calipers, microscope, federal gauge, Styre, Talyrond 73, FPI, video scopes, and lighting equipmentPerforms detail oriented tasks using basic language and intermediate math skills.Schedule (2 shifts available):Days: 7am-3:30pm M-FSwing: 3:30-11:30pm M-F (includes shift differential)Target Hiring Range: USD 0.00 - USD 0.00Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
