Job summary

MP Systems, a leading line and infrastructure construction company in the Midwest, seeks a Quality Control professional to deliver QC services, implement the QC Plan, and perform on-site inspections to ensure project specifications and safety standards are met.

You will train and coach field teams, provide real-time feedback, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to improve processes, with travel to multiple job sites required and a strong emphasis on safety and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or Journeyman License required.
  • Technical experience in engineering, project management, or construction management preferred.
  • Must have strong safety orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections on conduit systems, lighting, basic control systems, and feeder installations.
  • Identify potential quality issues from construction documents.
  • Analyze startup/commissioning schedule and upcoming tasks for standards and training.
  • Provide valid statistics and analyses on job site quality, commissioning, and startup procedures.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to refine processes related to job site quality and commissioning.
  • Conduct safety checks on job sites and enforce safety policies.

Job Description

This role is responsible for delivering quality control services to ensure high standards are maintained across all job sites. This involves implementing and coordinating the Quality Control Plan, conducting thorough job site inspections, and resolving quality issues through document reviews and on-site evaluations. The position provides training, coaching, and real-time feedback to field teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and company values while supporting efficient and effective project execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Control & Commissioning:
  • Conduct quality inspections for layout conduit systems, various lighting systems, basic control systems and feeders, and inspections of installation of motor feeders
  • Identify potential quality issues from review of construction documents
  • Analyze startup/commissioning schedule
  • Analyze upcoming tasks and anticipate equipment installation standards, checklist procedures, and training
  • Provide valid statistical information and applicable analyses regarding job site quality, commissioning, and startup procedures
  • Participates in various cross-functional teams to continually develop and refine organizational processes related to job site quality and commissioning
  • Perform safety checks on job sites and maintain compliance with safety policies
Field Support:
  • Opportunity to help direct the work of small crews
  • Help provide guidance to field employees, project supervisors, and management on matters concerning job sit quality and commissioning
  • Perform Project Expectations Review with project leadership
  • Demonstrate excellent customer relations
  • Develop relationships with project leadership and personnel that facilitate open dialogue and trust
Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:
  • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
  • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
  • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field OR Journeyman License
  • Technical experience in engineering, project management, or construction management preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Office and field environment requiring sitting and standing. Travel to various work sites is essential, exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise and the need to stand and walk.
