  • Lead projects focused on chemical raw material and product quality.
  • Assist with developing test methodologies and procedures.
  • Work with the Quality System on internal and external audits.

  • Coordinate failure investigations by designing and performing lab-scale simulations of products made in the plant.

Our client is a global manufacturer serving the healthcare and life sciences industries, operating a chemical manufacturing facility in St. Louis, MO. The site produces regulated products under ISO 9001, ISO 13485, MDSAP, FDA 21 CFR Part 820/211, and EU MDR, and maintains a strong quality culture to support its manufacturing and product development operations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Control Scientist supports the site's quality functions, ensuring adherence to ISO and FDA regulatory standards across a fast-paced production environment. This is a hands-on lab role: developing and validating test methods, troubleshooting formulation and manufacturing issues, and leading non-conformance, complaint, and CAPA investigations. The Quality Control Scientist applies statistical methods and established quality principles to drive supplier quality, manufacturing process control, and product quality improvements, working with minimal supervision and onsite during core business hours.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead projects focused on chemical raw material and product quality.
  • Assist with developing test methodologies and procedures.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or a related technical field with hands-on chemistry experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant lab testing experience in a regulated industry (e.g., FDA/ISO 13485).
  • Knowledge of standard quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), Root Cause Analysis, and Statistics.
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or Physics.
  • Experience supporting chemical formulations in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Strong understanding of formulation chemistry and the ability to troubleshoot product performance, processing, or quality-related issues.
  • Experience conducting technical investigations, root cause analysis, and scientific problem-solving for complex product or process challenges.
  • Experience with chromatographic techniques including HPLC, GC, and other analytical instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret analytical data and apply scientific principles to support manufacturing, quality, and product performance decisions.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional team meetings, sometimes involving Directors and above.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and pivot quickly to meet customer needs in a fast-paced production environment.
