Quality Control Nondestructive Testing Technician (QC NDT)

Join to apply for the Quality Control Nondestructive Testing Technician (QC NDT) role at Universal Orlando Resort.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for park-wide quality control inspections and audits in areas such as dimensional conformity, fiberglass laminate construction (FRP)/carbon fiber composites, material specification conformity, mechanical and structural non-destructive testing (NDT), process specification conformity, receiving, and welding. Provides neat, timely, and accurate inspection reports; facilitates problem resolution; provides input to Engineering and Management during problem resolution or project planning. Performs duties according to Universal Orlando and Technical Services Engineering/Quality Control policies and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect ride and show elements including tracks, vehicles, and related components for quality, accuracy, and conformity to specifications and welding procedures, including both final and in-process items. Includes inspection of welding setups, defect excavations, and final welds using visual, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant methods.
  • Inspect received parts and components for dimensional and material conformity.
  • Inspect fiberglass and carbon fiber composite assemblies, both in-process and final.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) such as MT/PT/VT methods on structural and mechanical equipment.
  • Provide detailed, accurate reports of inspections in a timely manner.
  • Communicate findings clearly to UO engineering.
  • Research and gather data relevant to inspections from vendors, documents, and online sources.
  • Follow Environmental, Health & Safety policies and participate in related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in quality or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years in a technical field required.
  • Experience with ride and show inspections, structural, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment preferred.
  • Experience or documented proof in performing NDT inspections (VT, MT, PT) preferred.
  • Experience with machine and weld shop fabrication and inspection for mechanical compliance preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Test (MT) as per ASNT required.
  • Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT) as per ASNT required.
  • UO in-house Certified Composite Inspector Level II required.
  • NAARSO Level 1 certification required within the first year.
  • Industrial rope access certification preferred.
