Job summary

Traylor Bros., Inc is seeking a Quality Control Manager for tunneling projects in San Jose, CA. The role leads the quality control organization to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and to drive safety, efficiency, and project profitability.

Responsibilities include maintaining testing data records, developing QC reports, and coordinating with customers and internal teams. Travel to project sites is required as needed, with relocation possible for project assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Engineering or related field is required.
  • 5–7 years of heavy civil construction experience is required.
  • Experience with quality control procedures and testing data is preferred.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining records relating to testing data, and applying quality control procedures
  • Develop working relationship with customers, both internal and external, in order to ensure customer needs are addressed
  • Develop quality control reports, post construction reports, and detailed progress reports
  • Assure that all materials, workmanship, and construction are in full compliance with the contract plans and specifications
  • Require that defective work or materials be corrected or removed until made compliant
  • Manage the quality control organization to control the quality of products, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality and minimize cost
  • Lead quality staff, at specific stages in construction, to perform tests for a variety of qualities, such as performance, strength, and characteristics
  • Lead quality staff in testing and monitoring to ensure factors such as adhesion, hardness, and strength are met
  • Perform inspections as needed; prepare and maintain inspection and performance records
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities
  • Set up practices to monitor and control quality; however, other factors must be considered, such as effectiveness, cost, and productivity
  • Apply substantive expertise during pre-bid, construction, and post construction phases of a project by working with plants/materials, construction, and estimating teams to ensure quality standards and project profitability are achieved.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc. Ability to relocate as needed.
