Position Summary

This position is accountable for all aspects of Quality Management, including management and technical related issues and communication of quality matters to ensure compliance with company standards and contract documents. The role is the chief liaison to customers regarding quality issues and must abide by the Company Safety Program and Policies while performing duties safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages and supports all QC personnel including performance evaluations, training, and development to ensure a highly competent and engaged workforce.
  • Fills out purchase orders and coordinates delivery of materials with project schedules.
  • Implements a Quality Management System to ensure compliance with quality standards and/or contract specific documents that may include QC and QA inspection and testing programs, accredited lab facilities, and quality communication.
  • Provides technical support for proposals, plants/materials, construction, sales, and estimating teams during pre-bid, construction, and post-construction phases of a project to ensure quality opportunities are optimized and all requirements are met.
  • Conducts specification reviews, develops project QC/QA plans, generates material submittals, develops and reviews mix designs, reviews quality data and inspections, and manages QA/QC results to assure timely project success.
  • Provides customer service to help deliver satisfaction, including internal and external technical communication on materials, production, and/or construction processes.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with material suppliers, local public agency staff, customers, and local inspection and testing companies.
  • Supports evaluation and implementation of new material technologies when applicable.
  • Participates in and promotes safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises field QC employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Control, Construction Management, or related field; and
  • Three to five years of experience in quality control; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory skills are helpful.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Prefer ACI certification, NDOT Certification. If not ACI or NDOT certified, will be required to become certified within a year from date of employment and maintain certification thereafter.
  • Valid NE driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance program.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts, and during busy season may be required to work 5 to 6 days a week.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Command programs. Maintain customer database and tracking systems.
  • Previous QC experience in a construction‑related industry preferred.
  • Must have technical knowledge of materials and construction concepts.
  • Must be able to periodically lift or move 50 to 75 pounds.

  • Proven track record in relationship management with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics.
  • Team player with strong leadership skills, effective training ability, and ability to operate in a management role.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with customers and all management levels.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize resources, people, and projects.
  • Capability to work in a high‑production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines; disciplined to maintain commitment to goals and results.
