We are seeking a motivated, qualified individual to join our company as a Quality Control Manager who will oversee all aspects of quality control throughout the trailer manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production quality across design, fabrication, frame-up, body assembly, paint, and final inspection. The QC Manager leads cross-functional reviews, develops inspection protocols, and collaborates closely with production supervisors to ensure quality standards are met and exceeded. All work will be performed in accordance with applicable guidelines, Company safety procedures, Department of Transportation (DOT) standards, OSHA regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review design drawings and scope of work to confirm materials and specifications match production needs.
  • Approve and release final project print packages within assigned deadline.
  • Coordinate with the design team and warehouse to ensure readiness for production launch.
  • Spot-check bends, dimensions, and welds; verify part numbers and materials; approve fabricated pallets using the Parts Traveler system.
  • Inspect welded assemblies including wall placement, door/window openings, belly boxes, and entry areas.
  • Conduct phased inspections using a formal checklist aligned with department pace and milestones.
  • Perform pre-sanding inspections, verify primer thickness, and ensure all coatings meet specifications.
  • Compile comprehensive inspection report across all departments; verify unit against scope of work and engineering prints; provide final QC sign-off prior to management approval.
  • Utilize and manage QC forms and documentation in JobBOSS, MS Office, and internal platforms.
  • Participate in routine internal inspections to verify adherence to quality standards.
  • Validate components against Build of Materials and released prints to ensure alignment with engineering specifications.
  • Review and inspect trailers impacted by change orders to confirm that updates are properly implemented.
  • Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, defects, corrections, and approvals for traceability and audit purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific, industry (e.g., oil & gas), and internal quality standards.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives related to welding, coatings, structural integrity, and functional performance.
  • Support investigations into product failures and customer complaints by assessing returned units or parts for root cause.
  • Maintain working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and applicable trailer industry standards to ensure inspections align with safety and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure smooth operations and meet production schedules.
  • Observe and enforce all safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions, and properly use equipment.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Five (5) years or more of quality control experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with JobBOSS or similar ERP/production systems.
  • NACE certification (commercial coatings inspection) preferred.

Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of weld inspection criteria and techniques, including visual and NDT methods.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, auditing practices, and industry regulatory standards.
  • Proficient with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control principles, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend associated documents, Standard Operating Procedures, and SDS sheets.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work other than scheduled times as necessary to meet deadlines or ensure that daily work is completed.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions – heat, cold, etc.
  • Physical stamina and flexibility to work in various positions and environments.
