Job summary

ZEISS Group in Chesterfield, MO, is seeking a dedicated Quality/Manufacturing leader to head the site QC department in a medical device environment, ensuring exceptional quality, efficiency and output. You will direct QC staff, oversee laboratories, drive lean, mentor staff, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with GMP, MSOP/QCSOP, and line clearance.

The role requires a high school diploma, 5+ years in medical device manufacturing, Lean experience, and strong

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience in the medical device or similar industry.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Prefer experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others within and outside the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Direct leadership of the site operational QC employees.
  • Manage and supervise QC laboratory activities and equipment.
  • Provide coaching and constructive feedback to the team.
  • Collaborate with planning, quality, and engineering to prioritize work.
  • Audit employees and processes to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Maintain 5S methodology in the work areas.
  • Perform in-process inspection according to QC WI’s.
  • Ensure finished products meet quality standards and specifications.

Make a difference, come join the team!Location: Chesterfield, MOWhat’s the role?Lead a department in a medical device manufacturing environment and ensure the highest level of production quality, efficiency, and output.Sound Interesting?Here’s what you’ll do:Direct leadership of the site operational QC employeesAssure that quality inspectors are well trained in support of their career development paths and the company's growth plansManage and supervise QC laboratory activities and equipmentUse effective negotiation skills to drive alignment and resolve conflict.Provide coaching and constructive feedbackCollaborate with team and cross-functional partners to help guide the Quality Control team to prioritize as the company wouldEvaluate data, assess, and develop optionsComprehensive understanding of all applicable MSOP’s, QCSOP’s, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and line clearance requirements.Audit employees and processes to ensure team members, product, and process meet specifications and standards.Provide Quality Control with timely performance feedback.Maintain J.I.T. (Just In Time) and F.I.F.O. (First In First Out) methodology to optimize production operations.Analyze situations and utilize critical thinking skills to prevent or find resolution for production issues.Ensure the team, production department and processes are in line with company practices and safety standards.Communicate with the production supervisor and other production leads to coordinate production activities and share results.Works with cross-functional departments (planning, quality, engineering) to prevent or resolve production issues.Initiate and assist with processing Non-Conformance reports and investigation reports.Ensure working areas meet the 5’S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) methodology.Able to use a microscope and understand magnification levels for visual inspection.Perform any other duties as assigned.Manage team to ensure that all finished products meet quality standards and specifications.Maintain a production environment that complies and follows all quality standards and government regulated standards.Performs in-process inspection according to QC WI’s.Do you qualify?High School diploma or equivalent.5+ years of manufacturing experience in the medical device or similar industry.Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles.Prefer experience with Coordinate Measuring MachinesProficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Excel, Word.Ability to effectively communicate with others within and outside the organization (i.e. management, supervisors, coworkers, inspectors and auditors from various governing bodies, such as FDA auditors).Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
