Job summary

ZEISS Group is seeking an entry-level Hand-finishing technician for surgical instruments in our Missouri facility. You will work under a microscope to perform finishing steps, trim coatings, and polish forceps to meet tight tolerances while following detailed blueprints and procedures.

The role emphasizes precision, with record-keeping, 5S/Lean practices, and collaboration with Quality Control, Production Planning, and Engineering to maintain workflow and output quality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0-1 year experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years minimum Surgical instrument manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written manufacturing procedures.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary steps on surgical instruments to prepare for finishing, under a microscope.
  • Trim back coating on forceps tips to specifications and remove adhesives underneath using blades and files.
  • Polish forceps under a microscope to remove machine and file marks without damaging insulation.
  • Accurately use measurement tools (calipers, micrometer, gauges) to meet tight tolerances.
  • Calibrate and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings for production.
