Job summary

Sanderson Pipe Corporation seeks a Quality Control Lead Tester/Inspector (Non-Exempt) to support the Quality Control Manager in maintaining records, training staff, and ensuring pipe meets specifications.

You will conduct measurements with micrometers and calipers, review wall thickness, OD, roundness, length and prints, and prepare reports and paperwork for inventory and production teams. Must lift up to 50 pounds and work with accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Quality Control Manager with maintaining records for third party agencies.
• Train other Quality Control personnel.
• Research standards and know where to find answers for pipe and testing.
• Use O.D. tape, micrometer and calipers for measurements.
• Complete all necessary paperwork: line reports, scrap reports, problem sheets and production reports.
• Check yard counts and ensure paperwork is distributed to the appropriate staff.
• Perform checks per standards: wall, O.D., roundness, length, print readings, bell checks and visual inspection.
• Check lift quantities, wood setups and banding.
• Monitor scrap and report issues to the Production Supervisor.
• Report discrepancies to the appropriate staff.
• Cut and test pipe per standards.
• Troubleshoot lab equipment.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (assistance required for anything 50 pounds).
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position: Quality Control Lead Tester/Inspector (Non-Exempt)

Reports To: Quality Control Manager

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to assist the Quality Control Manager with maintaining records for third party agencies
• Ability to train other Quality Control personnel
• Have appropriate knowledge of the standards and know where to research for answers regarding the pipe and testing
• Proper use of the O.D. tape, micrometer and calipers
• Complete all necessary paperwork; line reports, scrap report, problem sheets and production report
• Complete checking/count of the yard prior to releasing into inventory and making sure all necessary paperwork is distributed to the appropriate people
• Complete all checks required per standards for the pipe to include, wall, O.D., roundness, length and print readings, bell checking and visual inspection of the pipe
• Check lift qualities, wood set ups and banding
• Monitor scrap and report issues to the Production Supervisor
• Report any discrepancies found with the pipe or set ups to the appropriate staff
• Ability to cut and test pipe per standards
• Have a general knowledge on how to troubleshoot equipment in the lab
• Keep the work area clean and organized
• MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT UP TO 50 POUNDS. ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED ON ANYTHING 50 POUNDS -- NO EXCEPTIONS
• Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to score 70% or higher on the Quality Control Lead Tester/Inspector exam
