Job summary

CWR Contracting, Inc. (CWR) is seeking a Certified Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician for our Tallahassee area operations. The role focuses on testing and inspection of HMA, GBC, and related materials to ensure DOT and customer specifications are met.

The candidate will analyze test data, document results, and support mix design development while adhering to safety and quality standards. Florida residency and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–6 months of asphalt production or quality control experience preferred.
• Knowledge of asphalt testing procedures and industry standards preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Must obtain CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 certifications after 90 days.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and meet MVR requirements.
• Drug screening and background check will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect, and analyze road construction materials including HMA and GBC.
• Understand test methods and procedures used for quality control.
• Record data, generate reports, and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Take corrective action to prevent non-conforming products.
• Verify asphalt meets DOT, customer, and job specifications.
• Assist in mix design development and changes in plant production.
• Adhere to safety requirements and company policies.

We are seeking to fill a Certified Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician for our local operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Understands test methods and procedures
• Responsible for the testing and inspection of road construction materials, paving techniques, and equipment being used, including but not limited to Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and Granular Base Course (GBC)
• Analysis of test data
• Corrective action to prevent non-conforming products
• Documentation and data control
• Ensures manufactured asphalt meets DOT, customer, and job specifications
• Assists in mix design development and changes in plant production
• Performs data collection and reporting
• Complies with all safety requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-6 months of experience in asphalt production or quality control strongly preferred
• Knowledge of industry standards and testing procedures for asphalt products preferred
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 certifications required after 90 days
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to work days, nights (including 3rd shift), and weekends as needed
• Able to complete all required paperwork efficiently
• Must be able to meet company MVR requirements and have a valid Florida driver's license
