Job summary

GELITA NORTH AMERICA MASTER GROUP is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to perform sample collection, preparation, testing, and data interpretation in a Sioux City area lab. The role supports QA/QC and food safety policies, with responsibilities across testing and equipment maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED and some college coursework in chemistry or biology, with training available for those new to QC labs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; college chemistry/biology/microbiology coursework preferred.
• Experience in a quality control lab is a plus, but training is available.
• Proficiency with computer programs and in-house software is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong work ethic, well organized, good math skills.

Responsibilities

• Sample collection and preparation.
• Perform tests according to procedures in a safe, efficient and accurate manner.
• Report test results clearly and accurately.
• Interpret data to support QC decisions and report anomalies to QC Management.
• Maintain calibration and good condition of equipment; assist in inventory of lab supplies.
• Train other technicians when required and ensure GMP policies are followed.
• Support quality and food safety policies through timely testing.
• Perform general housekeeping and interact professionally with coworkers.
• Assist in other lab areas as needed.

Essential Functions

• Sample collection and preparation.
• Perform appropriate tests according to established procedures in an efficient, timely, accurate and safe manner.
• Report test results in an accurate and legible manner.
• Interpret data as experience allows to assist in evaluation of data including the reporting of anomalies to QC Management.
• Maintain equipment in good working order including calibration.
• Assist in maintaining inventories of laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Training of other technicians when required.
• Perform basic housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and orderly laboratory.
• Interact with all co-workers in a professional manner.
• Assist in all areas of the laboratory as required.
• Support and follow GELITA USA’s GMP policies.
• Support GELITA USA’s Quality and Food Safety Policy through accurate and timely testing.
• Other Duties as Assigned by QC Management.

• Experience in a Quality Control laboratory preferred but not required. Willing to train the right candidate.
• Proficiency and the ability to quickly learn programs computer programs and in-house software
• A Quality Control Lab Technician must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have a strong work-ethic, be well organized, and have good mathematical skills.
• Must be able to work well as part of a team and on an individual basis.
• A flexible schedule allowing for changes in daily work routines, weekend work and occasional overtime required.
• Person must maintain acceptable attendance requirements with minimal absences and tardiness.
