About the Role:

We are seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician for our plant in Charlotte, NC. The QC Technician will be responsible for performing product quality testing in a plastic separator manufacturing facility, maintaining the safety and operation of the quality lab, and supporting the plant in aligning systems to automotive requirements. The role involves maintaining and performing other quality-related duties that support the success of the manufacturing process.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports directly to the Quality Supervisor and does not supervise others.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. This is a 12-hour shift position, working on a 2-2-3 schedule (6am - 6pm).
  2. Perform standard and non-routine QC tests, including physical, chemical, and resin testing.
  3. Analyze resin testing results monthly and present findings to teams.
  4. Operate lab equipment such as TGA analyzers, FTIR spectroscopy, rheometers, and pycnometers.
  5. Complete DSC, rheology, TGA, and melt flow analyses.
  6. Train new and current employees as needed.
  7. Maintain calibration and create service requisitions for equipment.
  8. Accurately record data and prepare certificates of analysis (COA).
  9. Collaborate with team members and participate in cross-functional teams and meetings.
  10. Communicate professionally via phone and email.
  11. Participate in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 initiatives.
  12. Practice safety and environmental standards; maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
  13. May lead resin testing meetings and participate in tours.
  14. Maintain professional relationships and utilize KPIs for performance improvement.
  15. Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles.
  16. Work in a high-performance, team-centered environment supporting plant goals.
  17. Work on a 24-hour coverage schedule, which may include rotating shifts.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of all company information.
Travel:

Possible travel between local company locations.

Working Environment:

Manufacturing plant environment involving chemicals, standing, walking, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working in adequate lighting and temperature conditions.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience or relevant educational background.
  • Experience in chemical and physical testing, preferably in a QC environment.
  • Experience with polymer resins and ISO-certified systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong math skills, understanding of unit conversions, and knowledge of basic statistics.
