Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Manager in Manufacturing to oversee daily operations of the QC Lab, including staff, budgets, and compliance. You will manage testing on pathogen-reduced platelet products and ensure timely releases to hospitals while maintaining regulatory standards.

Role requires a Bachelor’s in an applied science, 5 years lab experience, 3 years supervisory experience, and ASC P certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an applied science.
• 5 years of related laboratory experience.
• 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with diverse customers.
• Must meet state and CLIA requirements.
• Knowledge of blood products and laboratory equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage laboratory staff and volunteers including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and disciplining to ensure a qualified team and compliance.
• Serve as a resource for supervisors for complex technical issues.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with state/federal policies and OSHA regulations.
• Coordinate testing procedures and equipment with SOPs, CFR, and OSHA.
• Oversee laboratory training and annual competency assessments per ARC guidelines.
• Manage workflows and distribution routes to meet customer demand efficiently.
• Lead suspect product investigations and document findings.
• Analyze laboratory data and generate reports.
