Job summary

Job description

The Quality Control (QC) Specialist is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and validating contractor operations in asset accountability and transportation management at a U.S. Army site. The QC Specialist ensures compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards, U.S. Army logistics regulations, and contract performance requirements. This role supports the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program by conducting inspections, audits, and process evaluations to maintain accountability of government property and ensure safe, efficient transportation operations. Monitors the quality of products. Performs inspections to meet the standard set by the program(S) or company. Recommend corrective actions in order to ensure products meet required specifications. Initiates improvements related to quality findings. Examines reports and trends to identify areas of opportunity. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Typically requires BA and 2-4 years.

Responsibilities
  • Verify accurate accountability, storage, and tracking of Army assets in accordance with AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DA PAM 710-2-1, and applicable technical manuals.
  • Inspect property records, hand receipts, and inventory documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Validate data entries in Army logistics systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP) for correctness and timeliness.
  • Support audits and property accountability reviews to prevent loss or mismanagement of Army equipment.
  • Transportation Quality Control:
  • Monitor transportation operations including shipment planning, cargo documentation, convoy preparation, and load security.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Army transportation regulations and Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR).
  • Inspect vehicles, containers, and cargo for safety, load balance, and regulatory compliance prior to movement.
  • Verify accuracy of transportation documents (DD Forms 1149, 1348-1A, bills of lading, TCMDs, etc.).
  • Auditing & Compliance:
  • Conduct regular QC inspections and audits of asset and transportation functions.
  • Record and report findings, issue corrective action requests, and track resolutions.
  • Support external inspections by Army representatives, auditors, and Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 QMS procedures and site-level SOPs.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate QC records, inspection reports, and corrective action logs.
  • Provide weekly and monthly QC performance summaries to the QC Manager and Project leadership.
  • Support trend analysis by identifying recurring issues and recommending preventive actions.
  • Training & Continuous Improvement:
  • Provide coaching to site personnel on QC processes, documentation accuracy, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in developing quality-focused SOPs, work instructions, and checklists.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement in all asset and transportation functions.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree in Logistics, Quality, Business Administration, or related field. required; bachelor's preferred. Equivalent military experience accepted.
  • 3-5 years of quality control, logistics, or Army transportation/supply experience.
  • Prior experience with U.S. Army contractor support operations strongly preferred.
  • IO 9001:2015 quality management principles.
  • Army supply and property accountability regulations (AR 710-2, AR 735-5).
  • Army transportation regulations and Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR).
  • Familiarity with Army logistics IT systems (GCSS-Army, LMP, DPAS, TC-AIMS).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present inspection/audit reports to management and Army representatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of safety practices related to transportation and material handling.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) * Must be able to obtain Tier1/ NACI (Public trust) background eligibility. * Basic proficiency in the English language (reading and writing). * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). * Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results. * Must be able to travel within the United States as required. This position requires travel up to 25% of the time. * Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
