Applicants should have at least 2 years of quality control or inspection experience in welding or metal fabrication, with proficiency in reading blueprints and GD&T.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or inspection within welding, metal fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with AWS welding codes and standards; CWI credential preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and weld gauges.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office and quality tracking/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect welds visually and dimensionally for conformance to drawings and codes.
• Verify weld size, length, placement, and appearance against specifications.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, quality logs, and traceability documentation.
• Collaborate with welders and Production Manager to address defects and implement corrective actions.

Position SummaryThe Quality Control Inspector – Welding is responsible for inspecting welded components and assemblies produced by the Welding team to ensure conformance to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable welding codes and standards. This role performs visual and dimensional inspections throughout the production process, documents inspection results, and partners with the Production Manager to identify and resolve quality issues, helping ensure Voeller Mixers equipment meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Inspect welds visually and dimensionally for conformance to engineering drawings, work instructions, and applicable welding codesVerify weld size, length, placement, and appearance against specification prior to, during, and after productionUse precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, weld gauges, squares) to confirm dimensional accuracy of fabricated and welded assembliesReview engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of material to confirm parts and assemblies meet design intentIdentify, tag, and document non-conforming welds or parts; initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate disposition with Engineering and ProductionMaintain accurate inspection records, quality logs, and traceability documentation for each job or work orderPartner with welders and Production Manager to communicate defects, coach on recurring issues, and confirm corrective actions are effectiveSupport root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing rework, scrap, and repeat defectsReview and verify material certifications (mill certs) against specification requirements as neededMaintain calibration schedules and records for inspection and measuring equipmentAssist with first-article and in-process inspections for new or revised part numbersCommunicate quality status, holds, and concerns promptly to the Production ManagerFollow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized inspection and work areaMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 2 years of experience in quality control or inspection within a welding, metal fabrication, or manufacturing environmentWorking knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and common weld joint types and symbolsFamiliarity with AWS welding codes and standards; CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) credential preferred but not requiredAbility to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Proficient with precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and weld gaugesStrong attention to detail with solid documentation and record-keeping habitsBasic computer skills, including MS Office and quality tracking/ERP systemsClear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with welders, engineering, and production staffAbility to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing/shop floor environmentPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
