Job summary

Napakiak Environmental and Construction (NEC) seeks a Quality Control Inspector to perform field inspections of mechanical and piping components across project locations. You will document findings, ensure compliance with codes, standards, and contractual requirements, and report any deficiencies as CAQ as part of a robust QA program.

The role requires US citizenship, the ability to pass a DOE security clearance process, and adherence to health and safety protocols.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of mechanical and piping components to verify conformance.
  • Document inspections using the Inspection Report Template.
  • Report CAQ (Conditions Adverse to Quality) when deficiencies are found.
  • Be familiar with discipline scope and limitations for certified areas.
  • Interpret results against codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of regulatory and contractual requirements to QA activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Control Inspectors are certified in field inspections related to mechanical and piping components, and other disciplines as needed, to verify that structures, systems, and components conform to predetermined requirements (e.g., codes, standards, specifications, regulatory, and contractual requirements). Non-conforming conditions, identified during the inspection and testing process shall be identified, documented, and dispositioned in accordance with established processes/procedures.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive body of knowledge to the timely and high-quality completion of assigned tasks.
  • Perform in field inspections at various project locations by examining equipment and material for required characteristics (e.g., dimensional inspection, materials of construction) specified in the inspection plans and procurement documents.
  • Document inspections using the Inspection Report Template.
  • Report programmatic deficiencies as Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQ), as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with the scope and limitations of each discipline for which the individual is certified.
  • Interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.
Education and Licensure Requirements

At a minimum, the following combination of education and experience is required.

  • A high school or GED diploma with three (3) years related experience in equivalent inspection or testing activities; or
  • An associate’s degree in a related discipline plus one (1) year of related experience in equivalent inspection or testing activities; or
  • A bachelor’s degree plus six (6) months of related experience in equivalent inspection or testing activities.
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance. (required)

  • Be able to use inspection planning tools, determine sample size for lots, and pull random samples.
  • Knowledge to interpret design documents (e.g., specifications).
  • Be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques.
  • Understand types of measurement, measurement terminology, and the different types of measurement scales.
  • Be able to identify and report non-conforming conditions.
  • Have basic calibration knowledge to recognize in-or-out of calibration conditions.
  • Knowledge of quality control principles.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and contractual requirements that impact the QA program.
