Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process inspections of weldments including fit-up, tack welding, and weld finishing.
  • Perform visual testing (VT) and disposition of welds.
  • Operate inspection and test equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges, portable CMM, etc.).
  • Generate nonconformance reports in ERP/MES/QMS (ProShop).
  • Support weld qualification activities and record weld data.
  • Work safely and selectively during extended hours and weekends if required.

JOB SUMMARY

Mavericks Manufacturing Partners, Inc. is a best-in-class welding company specializing in the manufacturing of weldments for critical applications in a variety of high-end markets. Examples of applications are critical fleet (US Navy), spacecraft and satellites, aerospace, clean tech, alternative energy, turbomachinery, semiconductor, AGtech, medical devices, and nuclear components.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Quality Control Inspector to join our team located in Escondido, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • With limited direction, this position will function in support of tasks and objectives that ensure business needs are met.
  • Operate a forklift when needed. Must be able to pass CalOSHA-required forklift safety and operational training and certification.
  • Perform in-process inspections in the shop with respect to weldment fit-up, tack welding, job kitting, weld finishing, etc.
  • Perform visual testing (VT) and disposition of welds.
  • Operate inspection and test equipment, such as a micrometers, calipers, weld inspections gauges, portable CMM, pressure test equipment, and other gauges as required.
  • Learn and utilize IT systems, such as ProShop, to complete job duties.
  • Perform receiving inspection and vendor source inspection tasks as needed. Management will provide training and oversight.
  • Generate nonconformance reports digitally within the ERP/MES/QMS system (ProShop).
  • Participates in resolving manufacturing issues and non-conformances.
  • Make facility improvements, as assigned.
  • Make meaningful contributions towards our goal of establishing a “best in class” Manufacturing Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Support weld qualification activities, such as Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), by recording weld data as assigned. Management and Weld Engineering will provide training and oversight.
  • May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Demonstrate the willingness to learn new metrology methods and techniques, including software, and nondestructive testing (NDT) methods, such as penetrant testing (PT). Management will provide training and oversight.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Requires a high degree of technical acumen and hands-on skills.
  • Requires 3-5 years of experience; education credentials from vocational programs may be substituted for years of experience.
  • Mid-level knowledge of and experience with a variety of tools (e.g., mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, etc.).
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work safely and look out for the safety of others.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have or demonstrate a willingness to gain an understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, specifications, and processes.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment. In other words, be “coach-able” and flexible.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform simple tasks.
  • Must be Windows Operating System (OS) software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) proficient.
  • Able to walk for long periods of time, stoop, squat, climb, and work extended hours and weekends if required.

COMPESATION:

$26.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
