Job summary

Jobtailor in United States (Illinois) seeks a Quality Inspector to ensure conformance of components and finished products through visual inspection and precise measurement. You will train staff on process controls, perform internal audits, and support ISO compliance while documenting non-conformances and corrective actions.

The role requires reading drawings, using calipers/micrometers/Fluke meters, and handling two-person lifts with safety. Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, bills of material, wiring and ladder diagrams.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience using an ERP system is desirable.
  • Ability to utilize measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and a Fluke multimeter.
  • Experience using small hand and power tools.
  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ideally, 1-3 years prior experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40 pounds frequently and more than 40 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Ability to perform continuous standing and walking, frequent bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling, and lifting.
  • Continuous gripping, manipulation, and fingering.
  • Frequent variable hand/power tool use.
  • Ability to perform two-person tasks using assistive lifting, pulling, and pushing devices.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect component parts and completed products for conformance to process controls using visual inspection and measuring tools
  • Perform final inspection tasks on switches and part orders being shipped
  • Train production personnel in effective process-control methods
  • Perform internal process audits and report findings
  • Shut down non-conforming processes after notifying the Supervisor
  • Communicate drawing discrepancies to Engineering
  • Participate in customer inspections as needed
  • Assist team members with preparing and entering Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Write Customer Improvement Initiatives (CIIs) for audits and assist with corrective-action reporting
  • Report ISO-standard violations to the Quality Manager
  • Participate in prototype reviews for newly developed products
  • Assist with dimensional analysis of components to identify potential quality issues
  • Help create and implement process control charts for critical processes
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Use equipment and supplies efficiently
  • Train others in inspection tasks as needed
  • Inspect work before passing it to the next operation
  • Complete production and quality documentation
