Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Mid-Level Quality Control Inspector to support highway and bridge construction projects in Columbia, SC, and surrounding areas. You will verify materials and completed work meet project requirements while collaborating with contractors, engineers, and project teams on major transportation infrastructure.

This role emphasizes safety, quality and accountability; you will read plans, perform inspections, document data, and help ensure CQMP compliance while working

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of construction inspection experience.
• Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications and apply them to field activities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with computers and tablets, including iPads, for reporting and project documentation.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a project team.
• Valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control inspections and assist with the administration of highway and bridge construction projects.
• Apply safe work practices to all responsibilities and maintain awareness of changing conditions on active project sites.
• Read and interpret construction plans, technical specifications, and project requirements.
• Monitor construction activities and work for compliance with the Project’s Construction Quality Management Plan (CQMP), plans, and specifications.
• Coordinate with the project’s Quality Control Manager to establish and implement appropriate quality control procedures and inspection activities.
• Perform on-site materials testing, sampling, and documentation of completed work.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain organized records of testing, quantities, and construction activities per the Project’s CQMP.
• Identify and communicate deficiencies, discrepancies, and potential quality concerns to the Quality Control Manager and appropriate project personnel.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with the project team, client representatives, and client.
• Continue developing technical knowledge through training and applicable certifications.
